| Here you see my attempt for an Estalian warband: first, the Hidalgo (captain) and a Rodeleiro (swordsman). Following, a pikeman and a crossbowman: And here you have them all toghether: I'm beginning to paint them too:

| dude... awesome. I'm not as up to date on my empire bits as I should be, would you mind giving a run down of where the parts for the hidalgo and pikemen come from? I think I'm looking at archer legs, knight torso and left arm, militia head, and general throat guard on the hidalgo.
I really like the way you paint the bases too. It makes me want to do some tim burton-esque black and white german expressionist painting on some models

Old bits, all of them... For the pikeman: - The base is an old imperial lancer; I cut off the right arm and repleaced it with a templar one; the pike itself is a knight lance slightly thinned. Green matter for shaping the helm in a more estalian way. For the hidalgo: - legs and torso were a one-piece bit provided in the State Troops box and intended for the Captain. Both arms come from the templars; the pistol is obviously militia, as the left hand and the head too. The gorget is half a templar helm. PS: thanks for your appreciations! PPS: the marksmen alltoghether, three ballesteros and one mosqueteiro:

1/72 conquistadors, Caesar miniatures... They fit perfectly, don't they?

| A VERY nice mix of parts...kit-bashing is a wondrous way of creating unique minis with little or no sculpting. KEPP'EM COMING! | |

| Your painting is very clean and controlled, but you really should try some washing. Your minis would go from good to really good. You won't regret it if you try it! | |

Actually, I'm not quite sure how to do it - do you wash with colors, or ink?

| As a history re-enactor, specifically focused on 16th century Spain, I am very impressed with the greenstuff ruff on that guy. Nice detail. | |

| Like folketsfiende said, a wash would really set off the lovely clean paintjobs you've done.
I recommend citadel washes for ease, but I'm sure the more arty types here can give a more enlightened and well-informed response on alternatives!

| Estalia! Estalia! Estalia! Great warband, I've always thought that there was not enough Estalian warbands around so I am so glad to have found these! I really like the shields they are so conquistadory (new word there). I like your use of the real Spanish names it sounds so much better than swordsman etc. What do you use them as in game terms? I am currently designing an Estalian warband based on the remnants of Pirazzo's lost legion and have opted to use Marineburg rules to represent their wealth gathered from Lustria. Are there any officially unofficial rules available? Keep up the good work | |
