| I personally like using MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard) as it is pretty rigid tends to resist warping from glues/paints and holds up well through use. It is a touch heavy compared to other materials I.E. foamcore and it is a bit harder to work with but in my opinion the pros out way the cons by quite a bit. | |

| You can also try masonite. It's pretty solid for bases but you can easily cut it with scalpel. And it's also very cheap versus other materials. | |

| I use 6mm MDF, it's durable and doesn't warp. I really like the heft if gives buildings and it makes them a lot more resilient to knocks and bumps as well as every day use. | |

| My gameboard is made out of static parts on 30x30cm (About 1x1') bases, masonite glued onto plywood. I then build the terrain onto the tile and texture the entire thing. The tiles make up the board, when I play Warhammer many of the tiles will be plain and just have texturing on them. Theo | |

| I use the Fan style 1/4" Insulation Foam. It's 2 ply, so it tends not to warp. AND easy to carve in details, such as paving stones | |

| I use hardboard, easy to work with, bevels easy with a dremel, and doesn't warp from paint. | |

| Don't use cardboard, it'll warp as soon as you get paint and glue on it.

| I use 3mm MDF and glue 3mm styrofoam on it. you will get the durability of MDF and you can carve it like insulation foam. I use 3mm of both because this way it wont be to high and your minis will have no problem to move across the edge. | |
