The not so big, not really a Meeting. [PICTURES GALORE!!]

A few days ago, I went to good old Amsterdam again to get some free food and beers at Ezekiel's place, and after a lot of partying and fun with bicicles, were happy to welcome Pfreck and Nigel for some wargaming in the messed up aparment.

We did a 2 vs 2 adaption of the lost prince this afternoon and are still debating on what to do later on. But first, we're waiting for an order of spare ribs.



The air was still thick with smoke after the raid of an unholy alliance of Nurgle Marauders and Chaos Dwarfs looted the city a day ago. Those who could had fled the town, hiding in the wood and praying that the marauders will leave sooner or later. Amongst them was a shabby bunch of Averlanders and the crew of the Violet Tendencies who was doing some business downtown. As it wasn't their town that's been burned down, the pirate's mood was still quite good and they were having a couple of early morning drinks around a campfire with the other mercenaries, when they were approached by a fat man in noble clothes, which had suffered quite a bit during the flight.

"You are mercenaries, aren't you?"
"So it seems. And who would you be?", replied Jiang Wei of Cathay, waving the favourite of his 5 pistols under the fat man's nose.
"Ï'm the major of this town. You need to help me - my son's still back in the town, most likely hiding in the mansion. I'll pay you well, just get him back!"
"Right..."
Jiang Wei looked at his captain, who simply nodded.
"Ah well, why not. Let"s do this! Hey Averlander's, you're in?"
"Sure thing."

The rag tag bunch finished their beers, grabbed their weapons and wen towards the fires on the horizon.

ah yeah, it wasn't a meeting, and it wasn't big, but it was fun and rather epic in it's own way

good parties with E&E till the late little hours, only to be followed up by some work, some more parties (a geeky one as wel, loaded with 8bit awesome) and then some gaming (finally, seeing as I hadn't touched a model since the last actual meeting this summer)

Good multiplayer game, followed by better sparribs, and then Pfreck and Nigel had to leave, so Eliazar and Me continued with a small battle, which was good fun, and proved rather ok, even though I lost.
This morning it was continued even more with a small skirmish in packed streets, and got me my mordheim feeling back... so this week will hopefully bring some more building of scenery and some sculpting of models!

Yesterday was pretty epic! Although it was only one game, it was still awesome.

Eli and Ez sure made lots of pics and video's.. Gee, I sure hope not that video of me failing to fetch a model from a building would hit the forums..

It was a nice little meeting nonetheless. Although we should have a full meeting soonish with more people!

Alright folks. Prepare for some boring battle reports before I show you some funny pictures of Ezekiel!

There is an advantage to having an 8 1/2 hour ride back home and a 1 1/2 hour stay at Berlin central station - you can read half a book, write an essay on the constitution of Kenya AND write some battle reports. So before I even hit home, two of three were already done. Unfortunately, my dad changed the passwort of the wireless, so I had to wait until today to upload than. However, without further ado, battle number one:

Nigel, Pfreck, Ezekiel and me played a variation of the lost prince scenario (that is, with a lost prince but without all the rules). Ezekiel and I joined up with pirates (using Marienburg rules) and Averlanders against Pfreck (Chaos Dwarfs) and NIgel (Nurgle Marauders). THe objective was for the humans to capture the prince and move off the board, while the evil ones were to guard him. It was a fun battle with lots of happening, including collapsing buidling and a lot of people falling down from somewhere





































































Game 2 in a bit.

After handing the mayor's son over and sharing the loot, the pirates got bored.
"There's been quite a lot off loot in that town..." Jiang Wei muttered.
"Aye, that's right", replied Snorri.
"Well then, let's do what we can best and loot the place, ye scurvy dogs!!"
Redbeard did not turn around to see if anyone would follow, as he knew his crew quite well.

Unfortunately for the pirates, the Averlanders had the exact same idea and as they were approaching the ruined town, some arrows flew out of the forrest and over their heads (and into Martin the Monkey). Cutlasses were drawn, pistols loaded and the fight could begin...

The second games we played after Nigel and Pfreck had to leave. We just had a skirmish with some loot, corpse and wyrdstone counters that could be gathered and traded after the game.

Both warbands started at the same side and raced towards the town to get the loot fast!





























Ezekiel routed to keep casualties low after we both gathered our share of loot and I won yet again!

The next battle will follow tonight or tomorrow as I still have to write the report. Shouldn't take too long as it was a fast and vicious little fight that only took 45 minutes.

and thanks for the terrain liking... as for the nurgle scum... we've been trying to convince him to paint, or at least finish converting his models for about a year and a half now... to no avail... but who knows... maybe one day... hehe

The Battle Reports keep bringing me back to the Glory Days of my old gaming club when we had the CAVERNOUS basement beneath the tavern where Pete the Turk worked. Sometimes a stroll up the stairs to hoist one between turns became an extended stay.

Wohoo, the internet decided to work properly again. So, here's the last part of the battle report!

The sound of marching boots could be heard all over the town - what the mercenaries defeated in the morning was nothing but a rearguard of the Horde and the survivors of the skirmish must have warned the rest if their foul comrades!

Both warbands put their differences aside and started running for safety. However, some barking could be heard closing in, and both Pirates and Averlanders decided it would be a good idea to leave some casualties for them to feed on...



























In this battle, everything was back to normal - the pirates got beaten up pretty badly and the dice were just not on my side. THe battle was quick and dirty, as we had only 45 minutes until I had to leave to catch my train, but a lot of fun nonetheless. Tomorrow, I'll follow up with some pictures of the apartment and the men behind the games

For a not-so-big non meeting the Battle Report is becoming an EPIC STORY...VERY WELL TOLD!
