Hey Guys and Girls,

Do you have any experience with making tents?
What do you use for the tent fabric?

Most of my scenery is made from wood or cardboard or something similar, but a tent cover is a new thing for me.

Tips and advice are more than welcome cheers

EDIT: should this be in the tutorial section? If so, my bad lol!

I've never tried it myself but I've seen a few tutorials (on paper, sorry no link) where they use sail canvas that you can get from places like https://www.mantuamodel.co.uk/.

for my tents and cart cover I went with ordinary painting canvas (the papery kind) as bought in arts and crafts stores... - got this as a bound noteblock kind of thing (not sure how to describe it properly) it holds water rather well, so you can use thinned down pva glue to shape it somewhat, though it needs proper modelling for the larger areas. its made to be painted on so you can add some nice details, and it's really easy to work with.

you can see some pics of the results in my scenery thread
edit: turns out I hadn't updated this one... shame!
here's the pic:

I prefer linnen cloth, good for sails and tents. There are plenty of variants, and not to mention thickness and quality. Some is rather "papery" in its quality (if you understand what I mean). Its easy to dye with some watered down colour or ink and the like.

Have you tried using heavy paper (ex. thick paper bag) dipped in watered down white glue? It can then be draped over your structure and drybrushed to give a nice texture.
