| how does the skaven skill "art of silent death" work in the following case concerning critical hits?
black skaven with S4 and AoSD fights a T5 model. As he needs a 5 to wound it, does this mean that he would not be able to land critical hits on a wound roll of 5?
so does he crit on a 5 AND 6 in this case or only on a 6?

| No one wants to touch this?
I'll try. We play that a warrior with the skill crits on a 5+ even if he would need a 5 to wound. The situation comes up fairly often when the rats join campaigns.

| No, he cant... If you need a 5+ to wound, you cant only crit on a 6, i think it was in a errat or FAQ.

| Im not sure, but its the same as, if you need a 6+ to wound, you cant crit, so if needing a 5+ to you cant crit on a 5. I will se if i can find it, if you got the annual, try to look in the back -Skavenslayer | |

| Found it. - Quote :
- Q. My friend and I had a discussion about the
skill “art of silent death”. It concerned the ability to make a critical on 5+ instead of a 6. On high T creatures he meant that it should be raised to a 6, as you cannot make a critical hit on a creature that you need a 6 to wound in normal cases. Hence you shouldn’t be able to make a critical hit on a 5 if you needed a 5 to wound it. I meant the rule was quite clear and it only mattered vs. high T creatures, which probably would be a pain in the ass anyway. And this one skill might actually prove much more dangerous to this particularly type of creatures. What do you think? A. As you can’t make a critical hit on 6 if you require 6 to wound, play it the way that if model with Art of Silent Death skill requires 5+ to wound, then critical hit can be scored only when dice rolls 6. If you required 6+ to hit and score 5 you cause neither hit nor critical hit. Dwarfs http://www.tacticalwargames.net/sg/forum/index.php?topic=1039.0-Skavenslayer

| thanks skavenslayer! I'm glad they ruled it out (although it seems a bit that the player asks a suggestive question and the "answerer" goes for it... ) something is unclear to me though: - Quote :

Definitely. It is all the terminology mess with these unfortunate critical "hits", while in fact they are critical wounds
