WarbossKurgan's Orc Pirates

Finally something to add to my Pirate Orcs! This has been sat, half-painted, on my workbench for many months but the prospect of my first game of 8th edition tonight (about time too!) spurred me on to get it finished! In case you are wondering; yes, the tattoos are based on Jack Sparrow's! Anyway enough rambling:

These tattoos are amazing

There is something about Giants that requires that they sit long enough on the work bench to develop a fine patina of dust before they can actually be completed, BUT the delay was WELL WORTH it. The Big Guy has a collection of tattoos EVEN my Uncle Gus would have envied. Sailors & red & white stripes just seem to go together in my admitted feeble old mind. WONDERFULLY DONE!

While I was at it I took a stroll through the rest of your Galley. Even after many viewings of the Lads, they are just as unique & interesting as on the first look...definitely a sign of GREATNESS.

I forgot to say: I built and greenstuffed this big fella about a month ago but didn't get round to painting him at the time.

When Salty Ogbad was killed on Tuesday lunchtime I decided to get Dregder painted for the next game... on Thursday lunchtime! So this guy was a bit of a rush job: I spent a total of just one hour painting him (over three short sessions).

WOW! He sure doesn't suffer from the speed paint syndrome.

These guys are going to be scattered through four units if Pirate Orcs, so they got pretty much the same colour scheme - I haven't used blue stripes before so it won't hurt the overall non-uniformity of the army!

I started painted them over a year ago and they have been sat on my desk with just their skin finished since then. The have resin heads from Maxmini.

Like the tight patters on the pants. Very well done. Skin color looks amazing as well. What did you use for that? It looks like dark angels green, snot green and that very light poisonous green, which name I can't remember.

VERY NICE additions to the Orc Fleet! The Maxmini heads are almost as cool as your own work...GREAT STUFF!

Orkhide Shade, Snot Green mid-tone then a Goblin Green in thin lines that follow the texture of the skin.

Doh! I went down to the local game store to buy Delvin Mud! Got cool plastic fire tokens instead. (Luvs firing dem ships, we does!)

Outstanding work, and all the little bits, bobs, barrels, pouches, packs and whatnot really bring them to life (not mentioning the excellent paintjobs here, as they are obvious )!

I have started working on some River Trolls for my Pirate Orcs - this is before I've done any greenstuff work:

I've added extra scales and barnacles to all three, some fish to open and an eye-patch to another. I don't much like the crests for their backs, so I left them off (and covered the smooth spaces with the extra scales).

VERY COOL...in a Trollish sort of way. You do a GREAT looking fish.
While I was checking out the Lads, I starting thinking about what it must be like to have a Troll as a shipmate...it's not a pretty picture.

Euurgh! I never thought about it that way. I guess I though of them more as shore-bound wreckers and ambushing River Pirates than as ship-mates... Mind you, I don't imagine an Orc crew would be all that savoury after a few weeks at sea...

And thanks - I've done a fair few fish now, I think I'm getting the hang of 'em.

Fetch is awesome, really like his pose.

Really curious to see how the trolls end up

I've undercoated the Trolls and I'm going to try and get them painted before the BIG game that is organised this weekend.

Meanwhile I've made a new Pirate Orc musician for the Ogresuns - an accordion a concertina player!











The squeeze-box is greenstuff and two Ork Slugga drum-magazines. That hat is quite possibly my favourite that I've ever made!

OH BABY...a concertina player; that was my Uncle Gus's instrument. The Man knew every verse of Barnacle Bill the Sailor. GREAT W.I.P. PIECE!
