Ah, Oblivion. I have not played in a few years now. Dark Brotherhood stuff was always my favorite, and all of Shivering Isles.

What system do you play on? If it's on PS3 you should watch the credits... Wink

Oblivion... I used to run a Nord fighter, who was also a vampire, master thief, assassin and alltogether awesome! Must have played it for way too many hours... My favorite quest is by far the Umbra quest (I think it was one of the Deadric quests). Cool armour and a nice piece of cutlery...

@Sven i havent playe doblivion in a while either but thought why not, im playing on the xbox360 but for some reason i have never done the final quest for the main storyline.

@Boreas Umbra is indeed a great sword however my favourite looking weapon in the game is the Debaser wich you get for doing the Unfriendly Competition quest (the one where the wood elve is putting the shops out of business so you have to find out how)

And at the moment im doing a proper assassin by planing my assassinations, making a call sign(rose of sithis, nightshade flower ect.) so basicly not just one shoting everything like i usaly do.

XB360!? darnit. You have GOT to own it for PC then acwuire al the player-made mods that makes the game REALLY good! AxeBanes hunter mod, for example, makes it worthwhile to pursue a career as a hunter, without making it unbalanced (and no more spoons found on wolf corpses...), and at least five or six more that really completes the game. I never use mods just to add coll stuff, only if I think they add things that the original piece was missing (a lot of the mods correct bugs as well).

Concerning the career choices, I always have had a dislike for assassins and vampire, as I feel there is so mething very... unoriginal in it nowadays. Everyone wants to be an assassin, and name him/her/it "ShadowMetal Assassin L337!" (well, not everyone, but taking a look at forums and ppls screenshots makes it pretty obvious a lot of ppl powergame Oblivion... something I am not approving, but on the other hand, im an old fart Razz )

Coming up with a special class and story is cool, though. Like, an elementalist mage (destruction for casting lightning and fireballs, and alteration to breathe in water and haste yourself). Creating ones own spells and naming them accordingly gives an enormous feeling of imemrsion with your character. An elementalist which has a Fortify Speed spell (restoration as well, then) could name it soemthing that is connected with winds. As such, an elementalist could be a normal mage, but with equipment and spells bound to the elemental sphere.

Also, druid was GREAT to play! Illusion, alchemy, sneak, alteration, restoration, athletics, block.
This guy wont win very often, but he wont die that easily either, with such defensive spells. However, just walking around, clearing mini-quests (the root-quest is PERFECT for a druid!), looking cool in robe and cowl, collecting ingredients and charming animals makes for great fun! Very Happy

@Opheliate I do agree that the game is better on the pc for the pure reson of mods as the game as most others do lack alot of features that would make the game tons better. but unfortunatly my pc is shared wich my brother does his work on so cant make it to slow.

Change of plan for my character im going to make a murderer but to make it more interesting im making a story for him, a call sign/mark, reason why he is killing them, finding a link between victims, dressing like a normal person not just running around in armour all day with my weapon drawn, will he kill random people or only kill the ones he belives he needs to and doesnt harm anyone else, will his violence escilate or stay stable, will he get court or turn him self in or worse.

I may leave some facters up to you guys to chose, I will also try and do a diary as best as i can to keep track of his 'activitys' if you wish.

Sadly, my Xbox recently got the ring of death... (during 2 sick rainy days of all the timing!!)

but I originally bought the box for this very game! loved the shinugems out of it, and then some... but I do find it lacking so much in character/diversity as opposed to it's older brother Morrowind... much more decent fantasy settings, variety, and overall lovable options... (the amount of time I spent dressing, and locating allllll the weapons! haha) but the visuals are of course nicer in Oblivion...

But, I've played Morrowind recently again, and it was so much more fun, even without spoken conversations, beautiful forests, or creepy dungeon lighting.... best game in the series. Smile

I liked Morrowind... but that was mainly for modding. You ever see the Svenn's Pack Guard mod? It was pretty popular (I got emails about it for several years) and it's in the Planet Elder Scrolls hall of fame. :-D I was the first person to actually figure out how to set up pack animals with the Morrowind Toolset.

I think I liked Morrowind better, but then again most of my Oblivion playing was not done for fun so it's hard to compare.

EDIT: Found it. http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=44

A simpleton murcderer IS fun! All "simpleton" are! I made such a guy once, but he was a bandit. Really ugly fat guy with a crooked nose. And he wore that fugly Leather Helm which looks like a medieval baby-hat. Some sack-cloth pants and at MOST a leather armour, and wielding a club. Of course, waiting for passers by can take a time, and when the guards find you, you go to prison., But that was all part of the story! Very Happy

I made a lowly khajit thief.

Stealth

Speed
Agility

Acrobatics
Athletics
Mercantile
Sneak
Security
Illusion
Speechcraft

I've played him for about an hour now, and its fun! He has problems taking on anything more than a single mudcrab at a time, but he can sneak around most guards. I have a hideout in the northern imperial sewers, where I stash my loot, eat and sleep. During the day, I walk around and try to spot some fitting pick-pocket victims, at night, I am a burglar. Also, during the day, I can pick pocket peoples keys, making entry into their homes very easy. However! I have now decided NOT to quicksave-quickload everytime a picking goes awry! I'll just have to be careful, pick my targets, make sure to never go pickpocket with stolen goods on me, and pay any fines I may get charged with.

My rules for plying are going to be:

Only fast travel when on horse back, no spells apart from scrolls and once a day powers (i dont class those as magic more of a trait ^^), robes when its rainging, fur when its snowing, my profession is a hunter/gatherer if its a bad day, not running around in armour all day and infact my person wont be using armour for most of the time, sleeping during night unless im doing one of my 'tasks', eating the respctive fod at breakfast lunch and dinner (weat grains for breakfast, a sandwich for lunch(or something alon gthose lines) and a warm meal for dinner(potatoes, veg and some sort of meat)

Ive also came up with why he will murder people, he will be out hunting when he is ambushed by bandit slavers and sold to the arena, so now he is out to kill the people he believes where part of the ambush.
I'll post the diary for today later and my persons description(skills, race, story line ect. ect.)

I say re-make him so you get the steed. 20 pts speed boost is bost fluffy and helpful. The Thief is good as well (+5 Luck, Agi and Speed I think)
Also, I'd let Security go, and instead add Acrobatics (for guiding the mountain paths, scaling cliffs, and maybe even guiding underwater).

Hehe, It seems I just re-invented my love for this game! Smile

@Ophiliate Ive got to much into the story of mine to go back now and it doesnt mater to much as it will fit into the story later on, and i dont like the idea of a hunter scaling cliffsides to get a piece of meat, a rare flower i could belive but that wouldnt fit into the fluff either.

Anyway without further delay here is the diary.

Day1
I awoke at the entrance of a stinking sewer The Amulet of Kings grasp tightly in
one hand and a Akaviri Katana in the other, covered in blood I made my way to the
nearby lake, reaching in to the water I was suddenly atacked by a mudcrab with one
swift blow it fell to the ground, starving i cracked open its shell and ate the meat
inside. I needed to get to the city but with all this blood I would surely get stoped
by the guards so i had no chose but to search the crates on the pier, they were only
rags but they would have to do.Soon after I reached the Market District Luronk gro-
Glurzog a friend of mine stoped me, requesting my help, he told me that a watch
captian had blackmailed him and Russian at Jensine's shop, I ask Jensine what happneed
and she said that Audens Avidius came in accusing Luronk & Russian of shoplifting and
that they needed to pay the fine or be arrested, the same thing Luronk told me, she
also instructed me that only another watch captain can arrest another so i should go
speak to Hieronymus Lex unfortunatly he was too busy hunting for the Grey Fox to help,
he did however point me to the last watch capatian Itius Hayn who informed me that i
neeeded two witnesses to testify against the crooked guard, of course Jensine refused
out of fear, so I had to ask Luronk & Russian who initualy said no but after a few
drinks they soon agreed.

Day2
I spent the night at Luronks house to make sure nothing happened to him but when I
awoke him and russian were missing, rushing to put my clothes on i ran out the door to
begin serching for them, luckiely they had gone to meet Itius by them self's because
they didnt want to wake me.

And thats as far as ive got in playing so far Smile

It is great the way you can pretend you are playing a whole new storyline just by rolpelaying with yourself. THAT is a sign of a great game!

Ah, the negative side of sharing rooms...

Well, I have several new characters now, actually!

The Kahjit thief is not taking any guild advancement jobs, as he is supposed to be a lowly footpad. He breaks into houses and targets their silverware (which, actually, yields quite a good price on the black market!).

My other characters are vampires based on the warhammer vampires! I have never played vampire before so this is something new to me. One von Carstein, one Blood Dragon and one ugly Necrarch vampire. With some good necromancy mods, my Necrarch will soon be able to lift a sizeable horde and lay siege to at least one of the smaller towns (Bruma is a popular target).

Also, I was thinking about making a priest, travelling around the towns, helping the temples, giving alms to the poor and creating healing potions and other aids to give tot he populace Smile

Awsome the vampires seem fun, what mods are you using? As the thing i hate most about this game is that you can only have one summon at a time and the second is the lack of vieration of weapons i was looking forward to crossbows, lances, throwing knifes ect

I use two Vampire Hideout mods, one is a crypt in the imperial city, and one is a castle. Also, there is a great necromancer mod with loads of new undead spells, quests and sanctuaries! Smile

Other than that, Mehrunes Razor quest (official) is pretty good too.
