Scammed

I have been scammed. A few weeks ago I put up a box set of Dark Elf Warriors up for trade for a box set of Empire Militia Men. A fellow going by the name "Raddimus" here on the forum discussed with me about trade, even showed me the box set and the sprues. After exchanging addresses we agreed to ship within the following two days. I shipped my Dark Elves out and paid extra to give him a tracking number to follow. I then sent the tracking number to him. It has been over two and a half weeks (the estimated time to ship is between 7 and 10 days) and I have not received anything. I have sent messages to him asking for an update and a tracking number and have received no communication. To help prevent others falling for Raddimus's lies here are his postage details.

Possible IP ban by the mods please ? It's also possible he's ditched the old account and signed up with a new one so beware.

Thanks for posting, Plutz. I notified Tom & cianty; they can impose a Forum ban.
While I was at it I checked out Raddimus' Profile. It seems the only place he has posted is here in the Trading Pit.

That's why i never trade with someone "new" to the forum... or only active in the trading section!

I know some other forums have limitations on who can post in trading forums, just to try and cut down on this sort of thing. Might be worth thinking about?

Sure doesn't. Just hope no one else gets scammed by this guy. Got some connections in Kentucky so I may pay him a visit some day in the future.

Kafka and Plutz, I am very sorry to hear what has happened to you.

Plutz I think you did well in warning others, and I can onlyagree with SeiFer that we need to choose trading partners carefully.

One way to go about this is to look how many posts people have and how serious they are about it. It can be that people who pull such tricks are either crooks or, more simply, just too lazy to honor their part of the deal.

I will try to install a limit on who can trade. Need to think about a sensible way of determining who should be trade enabled and who is not. Ideas are welcome.

Let us not get discouraged from such episodes, though, and keep the hobby flame lit and the moral standards high.

I will not tolerate assholes taking advantage of good people and gamers on my forum. "Jay Evins" is banned and IP banned.

Plutz, I have a sprue or two of militia men left that I can send you if you like, to make up for this.

Kafka, I have no possessed leftovers, BUT I have 2 chaos warrior bodies that can make for good conversions.

I know this won't reverse your financial loss, but it may help to restore a little bit of your faith in this community and maybe in the good on man (or Admins )

Thanks for the offer Tom but there's no need for you to loose out because some fool can't afford to buy his own mini's. I can afford the loss

One way to stop trading with new members is to restrict PM's until they have a set post count or above. They can still trade, but have to do it on a public thread.

I am all for setting restrictions and such but becareful not to get to Fire and Pitch Fork like. I am quite active as a reader of post and I do like the trading section but I don't post often as I am generally sponging up examples and marveling at some of the creative skills this forum provides. I do have absolutely no problem working out trades in Public but it isn't it a little risky to throw out contact info in open forums. Just my two cents for what its worth. I wish I was closer to KY I would love to collect on the limbs bounty! Be safe and fair winds.

ONE LITTLE THINGY to keep in mind before everyone goes paranoid about trading: check it out; we have six full pages of trades in The Pit & one S.O.B. who has cheat a Fellow Forumite. That's a pretty decent track record...better than my dealings with G.W..

I agree totally. Won't hesitate to trade here again. Just felt this guy needed to be pointed out so no one else gets scammed by him.

Maybe we could do it the other way around. Instead of banning people who do not trade well, let's create a recommandation-thread. If you did trade with someone, let him/her build some reputation?

For instance:

"The great trading experience topic"

posts contains following:
- who did you trade with ?
- what did you trade?
- how long did shipment/response took?
- did your partner pack his stuff well?
- what were the shipment costs in total?
- what rating would you give your trading partner (scale 1-5, 1= poor, 5 = outstanding)?

Because, lets face it, deafnala already stated that this forum has a great reputation on that level. There really (imho) is no need for a ban. This topic furthermore could contribute to see who responds in what time. We all know deafnala visits this board at least once a day, but not everyone is that much of a frequent visitor (i.e. reads his/her mail). This could be beneficial on multiple levels.

Any opinions?

i have only recently joined the forum and i got the same deal...i read alot and enjoy the pic happy posters in the modeling section. i also rarely have cash on hand so trading is the way i go.


i guess ill make a few posts (i allready have made a couple) see if i can try to build a rep

Guys, I think the recommendation system is an excellent idea. Sadly there is no "thumbs up" system on this forum yet (i.e. a little reputation indicator in your profile would be nice).

I think I will look into that.

An a different note: Plutz, your parcel is ready for shipping and I will try to get to the post office by tomorrow.

UPDATE :

We now have a reputation system.

If you look to your profile you will find a small field marked "Reputation" indicating your current score.

On the top right corner of every post, you will now see a little "+" and a little "-", allowing you to vote that particular user up or down.

1 "UP" vote = 1 point
1 "DOWN" vote = -3 points

You know the saying: "good reputation arrives by foot, but leaves on horseback" (which I just made up)

Voting will only affect the person's score in the trading pit and in the tutorial section.

Hmm i wonder what happens if i downvote the almight Admin Tom..........(im now dead)................(yay now im undead)

don't forget that what this guy did is a serious crime, mail fraud, even at this low $$ amount. Contact the police in his locality and tell them what happened. They SHOULD take it seriously and they SHOULD be willing to rattle tis guys cage.

He's dumb enough to give a physical address. Its a pretty simple thing to file the police report and have them drive out and talk to him. I've seen it repeatedly on Bartertown when people think there is nothing to be done and if you can get an officer that is willing to listen that these ripoff artists at least get forced to return the goods or provide what they said they were going to.
