| Skaven elite, eh? Well, why not make a generic Skaven list, adn give them different bonus, based on their clan (kinda like a chaos mark).
Leader: Moulder- may have 2 Rat Ogres, Ld 8. Eshin: Starts with Academic Skill or Skaven Spell of your choice, and may add +1 to any other spell caster within 6" (may not learn spells). Eshin: Perfect Killer, +1 M. Pestilenses - T4, immune to poisons.
Warlock: Skyre- starts with two spells. ; Eshin- has "Poison Master" skill from Dark Elves. Plague - may learn Nurlge Spells or Skaven. Moulder- may give a "Power of the Stones" mutation to any "TLGT" hero, which replaces the new hero's first advancement.
Stormvermin: Moulder- animals within 6" may use Ld. Pestilence - may use Clan Pestilence equip & skills, starts with S3 & T4 (instead of S4/T3). Eshin - +1 M. Skyre - Free gas mask, may use Skyre items, and may learn Acad.
Initiatiates: Eshin +1 M. Moulder- starts with a free Giant Rat as "Equipment" (see Wardog rules). Pestilens - Immune to Poisons. Skyre - may learn Academic.
If you wanted, I could also see some "division" rules as part of it... maybe the henchmen suffer animosity. Or if your leader dies, a random Non-Initiate model is the Leader for the next game- the random leader switches off until 3 games have passed, at which point the highest Ld skaven takes charge. EDIT: Or, as an alternative to the Skyre leader, maybe he can reroll one dice per turn involving a Warplock pistol or a Skyre weapon (any one dice, being to hit, to wound, save, etc.) To balance things out, maybe get rid of the 6 heroes bonus. OR, give them 0-3 Initiatiates, and 0-2 champions (so, 0-2 Stormvermin or 0-1 storm and 0-1 warlock, [their choice]). That gives them the extra income, without breaking things too badly.

| "Skaven elite, eh? Well, why not make..."
There was a shuffling sound, then a crash as the door gave in. There followed a desperate squeeking, which quickly died into a quieter munching sound. The skaven elite had not lasted long against the dread zombie fish orcs...

| @feelingfine69: Didn't Cianty say that it wouldn't unbalance the list if you did add Longbows to the equipment list? - cianty wrote:

I would be fine with it if a Merchant Caravan player would use Longbows for his Marksmen as well, they aren't that good!

So why not add them in to the merchant caravan warband list then, rather than give an excuse why I would always use Tilean archers??

| I understand your point. You can just add them to the equipment list, there is nothing wrong with a little houseruling here and then. The warband list doesn't have to be updated, you can just use the cost for a Longbow from regular mercenary list, there's nothing wrong with that! Border Town Burning is entirely fan-made, so it's not that you're breaking any rules when you want to use Longbows for your Marksmen, hell I think no-one would even notice that you're using them instead of Crossbows! It just adds that little flavor, you can decide where they hail from - even if that means you add equipment to the equipment list! If it suits the fluff of your warband, why shouldn't you?
I hope this clears up my thoughts, I didn't mean to be rude either.
Cheers! | |

| Well, if everyone agrees on the matter, I might just add some longbows to my warband as well... that would solve a lot of financial difficulties | |

| These sharpshooting warriors are that good actually. - Quote :
I would be fine with it if a Merchant Caravan player would use Longbows for his Marksmen as well, they aren't that good! Compare the crossbowmen from the Merchants Caravan to the marksmen of a mercenary warband (EDIT: from outside the Reikland). You will see these straight shooters get +1 Ballistic Skill! I'm not sure if this was intentional (OK it was intentional) and we can see it benefits the Merchant because all through testing we did find this warband was a bit less powerful than other Mordheim & Border Town warbands. In hindsight, I might be inclined to suggest tweaking the warband to make it a touch more competitive. At the time I was only tasked with revising the fluff, which is why Feelingfine has enjoyed all of those groovy options concerning which nation her Merchants warriors are being drawn from... well, all except the boring marksmen. Sorry, my bad. Regards, Werekin.
