| Sounds like you have had a bit of bad luck - the orcs' one major weakness is starting with only four heroes - losing one of them is crippling.
You need to go into serious recovery mode. Have the orc heroes - and even the orc boyz - hang back; lead with the goblins and squigs. Rout when you've lost enough gobbos and squigs. (The orcs hanging back out of the brawl isn't very orcy; cheerfully sacrificing goblins, on the other hand, is very orcy).
You may only need this tactic for two or three games. You cannot afford to loose another hero. All three have to survive to search for loot after the game. Additionally, those boyz are critical too. You can hire a replacement big 'un, but to obtain your critical 5th and 6th heroes, you have to make promotion rolls for the boyz. Hire new boyz as soon as possible (obviously, after the replacement big 'un). The cheap goblins and squigs are going to be tempting, but remember: they are a dead end. What is killing you is a lack of heroes, and the goblins cannot be promoted. Add new boyz as quickly as you can: they can be promoted, and their T4 will keep them alive longer.
(If you are a role-player and feeling guilty about having the orcs skulk behind the goblins, just repeat to yourself, as often as necessary, "Its part of da cunning plan, hurr hurr hurr").

| (Weird - I'm sure I posted a response to this earlier!)
I agree with mweaver though. Look after your heroes for the next game or two and replace the Big'Un as soon as you can. Only think about getting the Troll when you have all four (or five if you are lucky enough to get a Lads Got Talent roll) Heroes generating income enough to cover losses of Goblins and feed the big fella!

| Yeah losing a hero early hurts Orcs bad. My suggestion is buy that Big'Un back ASAP and then when you buy your Orcs back buy them seperately so that you get more chances at LGT. I've never tried it, but the begger hired sword looks like it could be a good money maker. Beggar 10 gold crowns to hire + 5 gold crowns upkeep Profile M WS BS S T W I A Ld Beggar 4 1 1 2 2 1 3 1 5 May be Hired: Such is their desperation, a Beggar will hire itself out to any warband. Though evil warbands will have to pay 15 gold crowns for their initial hire, as the Beggar knows he may not survive the company long.
Rating: A Beggar increases a warband's rating by +8 points, plus 1 point for each Experience point the has.
Equipment: Club
Special Rules:
Scrounge: Such is the Beggar's skill at scrounging through the ruins of Mordheim, at the end of each battle that the Beggar was not put out of action, he adds an extra die of exploration to your pool.
Not a Threat: as a Beggar proves hardly a threat to any true warrior, warbands may ignore Beggar for purposes of shooting at the nearest target and charging another enemy within 2” of the Beggar.
Skills: A Beggar may choose from Speed skills when he gains a new skill.

All six! (You can have more than one promoted lad).
Good luck, Grotskull! | |

| Personally, i try to stick to true Orcy fashion, and load up on all my heroes and forget about the boys, instead get a few Gobbos and all the Squigs i can. In my true, Greenskin heart, nothing is more fun than watching the Gobbos struggle with the squigs and then get abused by the other warbands. And i'll do that for the first few battles, depending on well my Income rolls go, and get ahold of a few true warriors, a good Choppa for each and law down the Law. My starting list is allways Boss (sword, shield, light armour, helmet, bow, maybe a 2h if i get good S rolls) Big 'Un's x2 (crossbow, hardened leather [where applicable], axes/swords, 'Ard 'Ead) Shaman (Dagger! and hopefull plenty o' spells) Goblins x2 (shortbow, squid prodder) Squigs x5 (Big gob and brutality! Tee hee) i find that the little Squiggles can hold there own against most warriors, and an occasional hero when they gang-up with supporting Shortbow fire. Maybe a little late to tell ya, but give it a shot if you feel like it. Should leave with about 5gc left, depending on how closesly you follow it. Cheers! | |

| @ Wafflefanny You have to have at least as many Goblins as you have squig. So to get 5 squigs you have to have 5 goblins. | |

I thought you were right at first, but I looked and I can't find that in their warband rules. What I see is that you can have a max of 5 squigs in your warband, and you need at least 1 prodder to herd them...

| It says that you can't have more Squigs than Goblins in the PDF, under "Choice of warriors". http://mordheim.ashtonsanders.com/files/rules/DaMobRules.pdf - Quote :
- Cave Squigs: Your warband may include up to five Cave
Squigs. You may never have more Cave Squigs in your warband than you have Goblin Warriors.
