Black Orc Mob - Question related to "Young´uns"

Hello.

Have a quest with regards to Black Orc Mob and here especially the Young´uns.

Following is stated in ruels.....

One Young’un may be upgraded to a Black Orc Young’un for 10GCs. This upgrade allows him to take the ‘Proven Warrior’ skill upgrade, thus making him a fully fledged Black Orc Warrior.

Does this mean now he has allready the "Proven Warrior" skill upgrade when spending this 10 Gold pieces or can he take it when it comes to experiences rolls and Skills to take ?

I think it´s an additional new skill to take....but I´m not shure.

2)
Do I have to spend the 10 Gold Pieces when taking the Young´un or can I do it anytime ?.

I think it has to be done when hiring th Young´un but better to ask.

Hi Claus,

What you were thinking is how I would interpret the rules.

1) If a young'un has black orc blood then at any point on or after they reach 25 xp they can gain the "Proven Warrior" skill as a skill after an advance that essentially turns them into another black orc with the same benefits. Before 25 xp though young'uns with black orc blood are simply expensive young'uns.

2) You have to spend 10 gc when you hire a young'un with black orc blood. This represents the rarity of black orcs. I guess this also acts as a gamble that the young'un may die before getting any benefit from its black orc blood but on the flip side if it survives then it will eventually become more lethal than regular orc heros.

Is it normal that the whole equipment list (for Orcs and Black Orcs) does not contain Clubs and Hammers ?

It souns O.K. for Black Orcs in terms of Fluff as they are the really fighters using lot´s of weapons but for Orcs and Savage Orcs it´s a little bit strange....I would say.

I think the problem is that clubs (maces etc.) are very effective
weapons for their gc cost, so not letting orcs use them is a
counter-balance to some of the orcy advantages.

I agree with mweaver in regards to the possible reason why clubs were left out. However, clubs for 3 gc were added back into the standard Orcs & Goblin warband list by a Rules Review several years ago. You can find this in the errata for the Mordheim rule book (refer to this link: Mordheim resources on GW web site).

Aye, Orcs should be able to use clubs, per the errata. Just my two cents.

Yeah the errata says they can. I think the designers just didn't put them on the list. I think it is a little silly that Orcs wouldn't use clubs. I mean an ax is a club with an ax blade tied to the end of it.

It means my henchmen can get Club´s.
This will help me to equip them properly as the Black Orc are reall expensive guys......they drink way to much beer....I can´t afford them anymore if they don´t stard finding some wyrdstone

@Claus... the errata is only for the official Orcs and Goblins list and not for the Black Orc list. Most people though wouldn't have a problem with you extending the errata to cover Black Orcs.

the errata was for the classic O&G list, i'm not aware of such for Black Orcs....

I know my group house ruled that Black orcs have access to clubs... but one might want to bear in mind that one of the inherent (and needed) drawbacks of the warband is it's high cost. For that reason it may be an intentional omission (or just a copy paste error from the old warband)!!

Now its illogical to assume that clubs are hard to come by, so think of it as a pride thing: da boyz only want the best![url=
