| Now, I'm no master painter or converter but I want to improve so I think maybe a little blog on here will motivate me to work at this project. I'll need to cadge a camera from somewhere so I can update y'all but I'll try and keep this up to date as much as possible.
I have bought a box of thunderers and gathered some bitz from Davespaceman as a start but if anyone can recommend some good bitz for the troll slayers I'd be eternally grateful.
The theme, a tad unoriginal, is mining so pick axes, lamps, candles and the like will all be prevalent. But I want to build these myself.
And I'm looking for small birds - perching, flapping, whatever.
Oh and there might be a steam drill.

| In addition to all the Dwarves haunting their Dark Heaven Legends range Reaper has an entire section of the Vertically Challenged Grumps in their Warlord range. I thought this Guy would look great as a Slayer who has been unsuccessful in his Death Quest for some time: 14491: Hagard the Maimed ($4.99) Tim Prow Cool, huh?! All in all they presently have 139 Dwarven minis to choose from: http://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/dwarf/sku-down . AND they're adding more Miners that might be of interest...or not. | |

| GW dwarves from the 80s were excellent, and most don't go for that much on eBay - so you might look there, too. I agree that GW has not done well with the plastic dwarves. | |

| Wow! Cheers guys, that's an awesome response, much linkage to explore. How come I never find minis I need when I go searching, just minis I want ? Yeah agree, that steam drill guy would be ace, but I have ambitions for a much bigger drill... Right I'm off into cyberspace... | |

| Please Gobbo_Freak, NO! Don't post it here... it hurts! Maybe I should support a guy from Poland who sculpts dwarfs, although... I don't really like Scibor's dwarfs. Most of them have no moustache and I don't like amish dwarfs | |

| well...what about beard? i think scibor isn't so good with that...in general his beards are too flatty...not a (dwarvish)beard to be proud of.
I must admit that i have learned a couple of tricks looking his minis...and i don't sell my minis worldwide like him...so, in general, I can't speak ill of him and his works.

| For slayers specifically, I think you'll have a really hard time finding any good plastic alternatives other than the one plastic slayer from the Battle For Skull Pass set (which was a really ugly slayer, IMO). I would just go with metals.
There are a TON of metal slayer models from Citadel, many of them discontinued now, that would probably fit the somewhat comical, piratey sounding theme of your upcoming campaign, though. Whenever I'm looking for old dwarfs I just hit ebay and type "warhammer dwarf oop" or "warhammer dwarf marauder" into the search field - you'll get tons of returns and as mweaver pointed out, they usually aren't too unreasonably priced (especially for out of production metals). So, give eBay a spin and see what they've got - chances are you'll stumble across a few models that will work.
Hope that helps! | |

| They also did a plastic slayer for Talisman that was available in the old toy boxes for awhile. Also ugly but in the same scale with the 6th edition plastics so there is some room to do conversions.
Is there a slayer in the newer Talisman?
