Orcs vs Khorne

Hi everyone once again i need some help and iv just been informed that my brother will be using khorne to fight my green tide, the problem is this is my first game of warhammer (when we get both our armys put together) i need advice on playing in general, playing as orcs (and any painting tips you have) and fighting the men-in-red. Ill post the models i have probally tomorrow i do know that its mainly a horde of goblins (as i think it should be) with some black orcs and other green things for back-up, unfortunately i cant tell you what he will be using as he is reluctant to say but he has got a unit of 5 horseman and he wont be using the hellfire cannon.

1. Cross your fingers.

2. Use FAST wolf riders to stop them from marching and take all the spearchukkas (or whatever gobbo bolt-thowers are called) you can get your hand on! With that, you can severely diminish their expensive units before contact.

4. Use solid orc units to face them, and gobbo units to attack their flanks, negating any rank bonuses and getting some good bonuses for yoursef.

5. Cross your fingers.

6. Use great whaaag.

7. Cross your fingers.

8. Use a giant.

9. Cross your fingers.

Truth is, WHFB is a crap of a game with SERIOUS issues about armies balance, and Chaos Warriors vs Orcs & Goblins is very unmatched.

Pretty much, your ONLY HOPE is to get the biggest, nastiest SPECIAL CHARACTER you can field, and unleash him in the middle of the enemy.

Otherwise, you're dooooooomed.

Or you can always play a BETTER game, something like ARMIES OF ARCANA.

Ouch mate, does everyone hate Warhammer around here that much or is it just you? That almost hurt my feelings.

Orc boyz are your best bet - they're really quite a bargain for what they are. Warmachines are another good choice - your opponent won't be shooting at you with a Khorne list, so you can have another turn or two of pot shots at him before combat. Other than that, try to mitigate those waagh tests and other randomness. Orcs are one of the weaker armies at the moment in an un-comped, one off game, but nothing is hopeless. There are a few really great tourny playing Orc players out there, like one of the Ben's from the Bad Dice Podcast. :3

DISTRACT & REDIRECT: use your small units of Wolf Riders, preferrably with a musician, to induce Frenzied charges, flee, & move his more powerful units out of position to do you harm or set up flank counter charges, AND CROSS YOUR FINGERS.

WFB is pretty dead around this neck of the woods...my Night Goblins MAY never find an opponent. I think it has to do with GW designing the rules changes to induce sales.

Warhammer is a very good game but you just need to learn how to play it, just like chess! tactics are very important in WFB!
that makes Warriors of Chaos the easiest army for noobies because you can just march up to the enemey and club them to death!
If you need to defeat WoC you'll have to play another card because marching up to them with your boys and start clubbing wont do you any good against THE close combat specialists of the game! You could either go for fast moving cavalry and surround them. Charging them in the back whilst yor boys engage from the front, or take lots of artillery and wipe out those knights before they reach you! His knights will propably be the central piece of his battle plan and some lucky bolt throwers can very easily eliminate this thread in one or two rounds, thus crippling his entire plan!
Even better would be a combination of the two take lots of small wolf rider units to go around his back, this will propably upset him so much that he won't know what to do, either he ingnors those so your free to hit him in the back or -even better- he'll turn to face your flanking units giving you even more time to shoot him into large warriorsatés just keep him busy with your wolfs and don't engage headlong! by the time he realises his mistake it'll be to late *evil laugh*

Oh yes, I've played a lot of WoC to, It just so happens I HATE KHORNE!!

oh and what Deaf said is very good to, whenever you get the chance to lure those frenzied troops into a position they don't want to be in take it! If it means sacrificing your 60point wolf unit to get to his 200point warriors unit it will be worth it! try to lure his units into woods or even better: get those knights to expose their flank to your bolt throwers! if you want to see your brother cry this is the way to go!

Good luck and remember: Warhammer is won in the Combat resulotion fase! It doesn't matter howmuch hitting power he has if you got the better hand in combat resolution! engaging him with a ranked up unit of boys and flanking him with some wolfs will give you a 4+ advantage before any blows are struck!

well orcs vs. choas is not a very good combo...
1. Orcs with their big strength and mediumish cost are normmallly good when not faced with hyped up maniacs!!!
2.gobbos are swarmers and ge chopped up normlly by a human... but against a hyped up chaos hummie... their chopped up body parts get chopped up again...
3. luckily for you chaos has nearly no shooting... but neither has orcs & gobbos... i mean yea they have got them but they are rubbish... exept for they are dead cheap so swarm away...
4. a peice of advice... GO WARMACHINE MAD!!!
5. monsters could be helpful...
6. cross your fingers, pray and wish your opponent took a more squishy army... like... i dunno...

well post both your army list and your opponents army list or the models he has... and i'll see what you can do with 'em! To be truthfull my wfb army has no need to fear chaos exept for the magic/combat phases... oh well they get smashed into submission with my empire!!! (apart from i have uno cannon and a hellblaster)
