| It has been bothersome to me for quite a while, that i can't represent most of the basic Mordheim Hired Swords, not even a close enough proxy. Well i have decided to fix that! I ordered an ogre, some wizards, and threw some bits together to get what you see below. Work still needed: sculpt fur on the cloak, sculpt armor over the gauntlet, drill holes in the mask for that gladiator look, clean up crest, make scenic base, paint! And before anyone else gets the pun in before me, "talk about a cod-piece!" | |

| Nice start!
I recently realized that I have the same problem. Glad I'm not the only one. Time to gather my own basic hired swords.

| In my experience green stuff doesn't file or drill pretty. Hope your experience is different! | |

| He looks cool! And it reminded me that I have to make a pitfighter too. I made a lot of Hired swords, but I haven't got this one. | |

its a good point really, how do people get around this? - other than just doing it when you first create the green stuff! What are you going to do?

| I've drilled little holes in green stuff before, and it wasn't really problematic. Although admittedly, it does seem like it would make as much sense to poke holes in it before it hardened.
Anyways, nice work on the pit fighter. I dig the gladiator style - looks a lot better than GW's pit fighter, with his funny cap!
Making generic hired swords is a good idea - I tend to get stuck on the background and personality of my hired swords which means that I always end up making individual models for each of them. It would be convenient to have a handful of more generic mercs though, for "calling in a favor" and such. Also for new players or giving a HS a trial run.

| i just realized he has sleeves but no shirt! I might have to sculpt a little half shirt with leather straps... gladiators get down like that or so i hear!

| Wonderful... Now we have models for the random happenings when hired swords come in to help you murder me! Good luck drilling his face! | |

| Well i never did find my pin vice drill, and i don't think twisting the bit around between my fingers would have turned out good. The mask will have to wait but i drew some guide lines to give an idea of what it might look like. I initially tried to poke holes in it but with the depth i wanted, the green stuff deformed too much the first time around. I sculpted some fur on the flat cloak i made last time, but it looks pretty terrible. I added an armor plate on the gauntlet, but you can't see it very well in the pictures. What you can see is the fish. With the extra green stuff i sculpted another fish, this one might go on someone's base. | |

| O.M.G.
I WANT THAT FISH.
I'll trade you stuff for it.
Also, I didn't realize it the first time around, the fish codpiece is the best idea ever.

| Well it's unanimous ...I missed the fish cod piece also. AND the FULL EXTENT of that HORRENDOUSLY AWFUL pun hits home... WELL DONE! If the holes don't work out, maybe you do horizontal slits. The fish sculpt is UBERCOOL; it could become your trademark much like Tagnator's Killer Monkeys from HELL!. | |
