I recently took a break from doing scenery for Gierburg and tried something else instead: sculpting! I find sculpting extremely relaxing and a welcome change from building and painting scenery. It is great to see a figure come together before you.

This is my first properly sculpted miniature. I know I have so much to learn, but it is incredible fun - and that's what it is about, isn't it? Smile

Looks great! Not what I was expecting, when I read the title ("headhunter") I was thinking some sort of primitive human witch doctor with shrunken heads! I like this guy a lot, and the sculpting looks great. The extra detail of the crossbow bolts in his coat is especially cool. He's very reminiscent of the highwayman figure (and therefore reminds me of Brotherhood of the Wolf as well - trenchcoats and tricorner hats!).

He could make an excellent witch hunter, bandit, highwayman, bounty hunter, mercenary...lots of options there! Nice work.

Myntokk & I are on the same page: I was expecting a swarthy little Amazonian with a chicken bone through his nose, AND my immediate reaction was "OH COOL, The Brotherhood of the Wolf." I LOVE the attention to detail...the quarrels concealed inside the great coat, all the buttons, the up turned collar, the apple core...all add up to a VERY WELL DONE mini. It is scant wonder you have become my hero. First Sculpt: Head Hunter 544694

Thanks, guys!

Well, your association about the "head hunter" is not that far off considering what these bounty hunters actually do in Gierburg.

@VonHagel: The grey part is sculpted with ProCreate, which is grey and not green like Green Stuff.

That is a nice looking model, great for a first sculpt. The paintjob is fine as well. It certainly lifts my spirits to see that I'm not the only one who seems to work on a handful of projects at a time with only a few results every now and then...

Thanks for the nice comments, folks. As with my last batch of minis this one was painted by Simon Bradley. He sure did a wonderful job once again.

Well spotted, DeafNala! The apple core is a must!

That street scene in the blog with the head hunter and the jester is one of the best things I've seen in a long time!

The angle is stunningly cinematic and the terrain looks spot on.
In fact, I think you just helped me deciding what to do with my town and the cobblestone work. Very Happy

Hi Chris,

Yes, I was thinking of scoring some cobblestone patterns onto a big sheet of blue foam (or two or three sheets) - to look a bit like your lovely sample there - as opposed to having bases for all my houses.

But today, it occurred to me that I could either find or even make a customised gaming matt out of PVC with a cobblestone pattern. There are already PVC table protectors out there, like this kind of stuff (even though this wouldn't be the pattern I would go for, obviously):

http://www.minervacrafts.com/tprotector-pvc-table-protector-fabric-huge-choice-of-colours-and-styles.html?utm_source=gmc&utm_medium=In%20Stock%20-%20PVC&utm_campaign=Fabric&gclid=CP7h7sH94LcCFTHJtAodPjsARw

Or even with faux leather. There seem to be some options out there:
http://www.mitchellfauxleathers.com/Default/Mitchell-Collection/Popular-Patterns/Cascade.aspx

Any ideas?

Joao
