I am very new to Mordheim.
Not keen on the large Armies of WFB but these skirmish type games seem fun.
But where do I start?
I am opening a club for gamers and I want to play mordheim.
I have the rules and some scenery to use.
But Im confused on where to start warband wise.
Dont really like plain humans do Mercs are out.
But Im temoted by Beastmen, Pirates, Dwarves and a couple of others.
Can somebody help with how they play?
Fun or Not?
Which Hired Swords would fit with them?
ect
Thanks in advance

I would start with mercenaries, skaven or witch hunters. In my opinion them are the easiers warband in the rulebook. Is better start with your favourite warband, but that 3 will teach you progress in a mordheim campaign.
For playing a simple scenario you would try to use all the warbands and start a campaign with the warband you like more, but get ready for loose warriors and for exploring the ruins for wirdstone.
It isnt too easy progress in a campaign with all the warbands, for example, the possed are very dificult for using in campaign if you are new.
I prefer mercenaries, that you want of them, they are very flexible, or skaven, that are very fast and have a lot of special and easy weapons that you would enjoy.
Switch Hunters are realy good for starting too, they have a lot of troop options, and diferent rules that will you teach more about the game.
I dont now if ive was a well help. Where to start? Lol

Thanks for that.
The only problems are, My main opponent has skaven and Im not keen on using normal humans. (In any game)
Mercs and Witch Hunters are abit plain in a fantsy game for me.

of the warbands you listed, I would probably want to go with Beastmen for simplicity's sake. They're a pretty straightforward melee-oriented warband. The Centigor is going to be your most unreliable unit by far.

Pirates are cool, but frankly not that great (although a lot of fun!).

Dwarves are a hard warband to play, and unfortunately the tactics that are the most rewarding in the long run are also not a lot of fun. It pretty much boils down to fleeing when you get the chance so you can make a lot of money quickly and then building your warband from there.
