Well for a good kit bashing I recommend any of the new empire plastic kits.
There is a lot of good stuff on them. Archer is brilliant!

Skaven night runners is a good choice aswell

As mentioned the Empire State Troops, Handgunners [the Powder Monkey is COOL], Archers, & Flagellents are GREAT sources of bits as are ALL the Empire kits.
The Militia are a FAVORITE source for moi. The Mordheim Accessory sprue is TERRIFIC.
The Pistollier/Outriders have, as expected, some GREAT pistols & other firearms with some cool saddle furniture thrown in for good measure.
The Empire Wizard & General sets have some FANTASTIC stuff.
The Zombies, Orcs, & the older Night Goblins & Skeletons have some cool bits.
The Bretonnian Infantry & to a slightly lesser degree knights have some REALLY nice extra bits.
AND those are just the kits I'm familiar with. Much as I enjoy grumbling about GW's short comings, their plastic kits for the most part are EXCELLENT sources of customizing parts & are GREAT value for the money. geek

I second the praise for the Empire stuff. All awesome kits with loads of bits and extras.

Also, the new marauder horsemen have some cool heads and such. The Black Arc Corsairs of the Dark Elves see some use, too, as do the High Elf archers. The Bretonnian bowmen look really characterful and you get the 4 command miniatures you can customize with them, plus some nice defensive stakes and loads of bits and a small dog.

Hey dude its good too see we have some more chesterfield people on the forum by any chance do you go down to the monday night gaming club at the market all ??, as this would be a fairly good place to ask players for unwanted sprue parts if its only the odd bit you require for a conversion or a warband

The plastic Ghoul box set is pretty good too.

The problem with some of the Empire stuff is that the bodies are one piece. The handgunners were somewhat of a disappointment to me.

And to the problem with the empire i could just cut the legs off.
