skaven can use heavy armour!!!!

look what i found in the 1999 FAQ on the yahoo site!

i think toumas is wrong in his interpretation of his own rules.

skaven don't suddenly gain access to heavy armour if they find it through exploration just like undead don't get access to crossbows if they find them through exploration

Though I deem it an excellent house rule that you may opt to use Items you find... we tried it at the meeting here, and Eli got some excellent armour that way (for his monkey I believe?) but still, it makes looting a lot nicer if you can actually use the stuff you loot! haha

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it doesnt say anywhere that Skaven are forbidden from wearing Heavy Armor. It simply does not include it in their equipment options.

I always understood that Skaven could use Heavy Armor (Or better) if they found it.

Besides - in WHFB, Skaven have Heavy Armor.

This is not like a Zombie suddenly using a crossbow, because it says in the Zombie description that they never use equipment.

No, the rules are: you can buy and use only those armours that are included in your equipment list. Gromril and Ithilmar count as heavy armours for this purpose.

So Skaven, who have no heavy armour in their equip list, may not buy or wear heavy armours.

Actually, it was my second mate, who became captain after that game (Redbeard got eaten by Gollum) But still, the monkey was one of the more valuable crew members
