But seriously, if you're going to vote, please look at all the entries and vote on your favorite; don't just vote for mine =]. I just like to share the competitions with you guys, cause I get a lot of inspiration out of them, and figure "ya'll" can too.

Nicely put, Ashton. The last competiton had some very cool & inspiring pieces [will there be an edible modeling category this time?]. I think looking at all the entries, & then either voting for yours or BEING A FOUL MINION OF EVIL & A GRAVY SUCKING HERETIC are viable altenatives.

Not exactly terrain, but I've been making my "miniature carrying case":

for a carry case, have a look at http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=42474&st=0. it's group called minisoft transports, and you may be able to get an idea of how to go about it. Or bite the bullet and just order it from australia

the base is looking excellent, i'm glad you added the texture and detail to it, it lifts the awesomeness that extra amount.

Yea, I have seen the GW one before.

I decided to make columns for most of them because I'll be squeezing a lot of minis into this small space, and will need all the space I can get. I have cut out some small sections that will act as padding between models if I need it (like for the squigs in the top left).

Hahaha, yea good point lol. I didn't even realize until I just posted these that I didn't give a full picture... I still have more of these piles of dirt to finish... then I'll put a full pic lol

Okay guys,

Lots of progress since my last update:

Here's a picture after the black and then a Dark Grey Base coat:


Here are some pics after 3 drybrushings of Dark, medium dark, and light Grey and two dry brushings of Brown, and then painting the rocks grey again. (I'm painting the tiles now.)

Thanks for the photos! The piece is looking really really good! The colours are perfect. I like it a lot! It does look as if there is something missing in the middle, though. A fountain or statue or something like that..

It's rather regal in a run-down sort of way; a very versatile piece of terrain with or without additional pieces. WELL DONE, AMIGO!

Good point Cianty. I made a "filled-in well" but forgot to add it... I'll get on that. I just might make a fountain too, I've really been wanting to for a while. I just only have two days before the competition ends.

I am amazed at how homogenous you manage to get your paint on the scenery.
You'll have to go into more detail on your technique one day, I think it will interest more people than just me

Honestly, I just do endless drybrushings. I've already done 5 (2 since the above pictures) round of drybrushings with a very large brush. I mix a bunch of paint in the bottom of a Yogurt container, then when I'm done with that shade, I add two dabs of lighter grey, and do it again. repeat.

I tested a couple of different texturing techniques on this actual terrain, and I think my favorite is: Before you paint, take a pencil or pen and a "bounce" the tip of the pen on the foam creating a lot of small divits, making it look like actual concrete/cement.

You created a piece of art out of pink insulation. Clap Clap.

The painted pics makes it look like resin. Which is good.
