| i have a metric ton (well, not really, but you get the idea) of extra sprue pieces. this most likely comes from my 3 warhammer fantasy armies. i also have a bunch of bits from the bretonnian peasant sprues, and i have some other cool bitz laying around. i have not really attempted scenery before (perhaos a lone rock out cropping or small defense point...but thats it) and so, with my only scenery being a pre-made and painted tower i won at a GW store auction some years ago (been in this hobby for 7 years now, latest two in reform, before that MMS) therefore....I NEED IDEAS PEOPLE! i don't care what it is, hash it out, and i'll try it. worst thing that can happen is i have to pry the superglue off the sprue. | |

| Im currently building terrain for My western/SP era games. Along with a crypt on top of a hill, I am scratch making a Log tavern with a detachable roof. I am using sprue pieces for the beams.
Try something small first, like an outhouse or small 'wooden' cottage.

| So, Marcus, are you after scenery or conversions?
If you want to get started with scenery, I suggest you start with a small heavily ruined house. One floor, two corners (or more), no roof. A nice little open tactical piece of terrain. You can use some of the bits from your sprues to make it come alive a little, by sticking mugs or barrels or the likes in various places. Don't overdo this though, as it quickly looks artificial. A sword lying around and a few bottles is enough! _________________

| well, really i'm jumping into mordhiem headfirst, as i play WHFB and i thought intstead of starting another army, i'd work on mordhiem stuff as a side project to my current and "everlasting" 4 armies. in that regard, i thought i would experiment with scenery building as i don't have any good solid models to use yet (besides a khorne chaos champion, and i don't think he can be used in mordhiem) so i'd do scenery first. | |

| Scenery and sprue--I truly don't recommend building whole buildings out of sprue but it is a useful material. I use sprue cut offs as broken window frames, whole window frames (the old skeleton sprue was a great source for windows), ladders, railings, ceiling beams and roof supports. Just plain cardboard is a handy material to make buildings out of if you don't want to spend money. Corrugated stuff for the walls and thin cereal box stuff for roof tiles an the like.
Warhammer armies--depends on what you play, but I have drawn from my armies for warbands and used my warbands for the basis of regiments. If you play chaos you might have some hounds and some marauders lying about. Norse warband, sorted! You mentioned 4 armies, what do you play? I bet more than one warband for Mordheim could be built from them.

| I've made some wyrdstone tokens out of sprue. I just cut some bits off, and slice some random facets into the block. Paint them a really dark green (like dark forest green mixed with black) and then highlight the edges, (I used pure dark forest green) occasionally dragging streaks of the color across larger facets, and highlight again with a even lighter green (mix a medium green with the dark green.) I did a tiny bit of object source lighting on the base, too. I took the picture with my crappy camera phone and the lighting in my apartment is weird (wyrd?) but you get the general idea. You might not want them to look so crystalline. That's just the way I did them. | |

| Tomb Kings, Skaven and Bretonnians
Hmmm---Warhammer Skaven are easy to use in Mordheim. If you have the Gutter Runner/Night Runner regiment box you have the old Mordheim plastic Skaven warband. If you have Plague Monks you can make an Pestilens warband.
Tomb Kings--Tomb Guardians warband from the Khemri, Land of the Dead setting. Not mainstream Mordheim but loads of fun. Town Cryer #16 through #21.
Bretonnians--There have been several unofficial warbands written and published over the years.
Both Tomb Kings and Bretonnians are not official Mordheim warbands but they can be used if your group of players agree.
Looking forward to what you come up with for scenery,
As for wyrdstone counters there are several scenarios that feature wyrdstone shards as something your warriors can find during the game. Many players make counters to represent these on the map. (the box set came with cardboard counters to represent them.)

| One thing i have done with sprue is to build scaffolds and barricades with it and add extra bits (shields banners skellies etc.) to it. It is often easier to glue than wood for small pieces, and for wood grain texture I run a small rasp along the sprue before i cut it up. | |
