Hi guys, in my mordheim campaign i bought our first hired sword (we are still learnng all the rules Razz)
Anyhow, a bunch of question appeared about them.
- Do they have some starter exp like other heroes? (we are using the unoficcial rulebook, so, if they do, how much starter exp has a black orc hired sword?)
- can we buy equipment for them? (the beforementioned orc, can he take a bow "lended" by my warband? he has Bs...)
- Can they search for warpstones/market? (i find no rules where it's stated that they cant, but also no rules about that they can.. they are heroes so i tought that was legit to make it search)

Please help us, i dont want to do beardy things in future battles
Smile

Edit, Just reread the official rulebook and noted that we cant but/sell equipment for(of hired sword (we already tought that you cant sell hired sword equipment... dirty easy money XD)

The answer to all your question is: No. They don't get starting XP, they can't get any new equipment ever, and they don't search for rare items or wyrdstone. When you hire one, use the henchmen sheet for him (for keeping track of the XP), as they are not heroes.

Thanks for the tips, noticed now that they use the henchmen experience chart (too bad for me) but, how do they roll when they level up? using the 2d6 hero system or the henchmen system?
Cause they go in the henchmen, but can get abilities like hero, they need to get "this lad got talent" in the hero chart?
escuse for my noobines..

They roll on the chart for heroes. A little bit confusing, you are right Smile

To add to it (the confusion, not the explanation), this is how Experience breaks down:

They gain Experience in battle just like a Henchmen. Picking up shards and taking enemies out of action does not give them extra exp (heck, it's just an ordinary job for them!) You use the bar from the Henchmen list to keep track of advances (meaning they advance at 2, 5, ...uh... 9? etc.) They max out at 15, I think.

However, every time they DO advance, you roll on the Hero Advancement chart, allowing them to improve wounds, learns skills/spells, etc. They can be pretty pricey (considering with what you pay upkeep each game, you can but half a henchmen), but they definitely add a flavor.

They also don't count towards the max number of people you can have in your band (15 max for Mercs, 12 max for Witch Hunters, etc), and are not counted when selling wyrdstone... (heck, you're paying them enough already!)
