| I figured since I had posted the one hero, I should go ahead and put up the other guys. I painted these guys in a day because I feel like it's sinful to field an unpainted warband, and I was changing warbands. These gys have battled against orcs and will battle against the restless dead soon-ish. This guy turned out pretty well, actually | |

| Not bad for a day's job.
I applaud your intention of playing with painted minis. We all enjoy the game more that way.
The painting is a little on the "simple" way to my tastes, (and the bases need some work and texturing imo), but a little shading with inks or tinted varnish will undoubtedly make this minis look even better.
Thanks for sharing. | |

| excellent! As magokiron said, stellar initiative to even paint them! I'd be proud to face that warband any day of the week! (beat's playing the themed whitemetal armies that is so frequent ) trust me when I say enjoy this stage of your wargaming. Soon you'll develop neuroses and really micromanage everything from smallest fleck of dirt on their boots to indefinate notes on colour ratio to make them themed with exact highlights. And it'll only get worse the more you play with them, giving them names, fluffing them out with everything from shoe size to where they went to school.... Theyre WYSIWYG and painted, well above the mark in my book! | |

| GREAT START! AND a well earned BRAVO for fielding the Lads all painted up. Quite a few folks never get past the basic paint job, which STILL looks GREAT on the gaming table. You can always go back & add some detailing. WELL DONE! | |

| Washes are your friend here - paint devlan mud und perhaps badab black onto the minis after you finished painting and you won't recognize them (in a positive way). | |

| Wow guys, thanks for all the encouragement and positive feedback. It really does help. So, I keep hearing about these washes. I actually picked some up yesterday, but I have no clue on how to use them, at least use them without ruining my models . I'm actually working on the bases right now. I was planning to do a simple gravel job, but any suggestions that I could try out would be welcome. I'd like to learn something new I want to thank everyone that's commented on my stuff. I'm trying to learn how to paint better, and every word helps. on a side note, the witch hunter model in the middle (Pliny the Odd) recently learned a hard lesson on the interrelationship of ballistics and gravity. He shot a goblin on a ledge directly above him, who was knocked down. The gobbo then proceeded to fail his ini test and fell off the edge. Onto Pliny. Who also failed his ini test and was then taken out of action by the falling gobbo. Ladies and Gentlemen, the genesis of the Doom Diver! (doesn't mordheim take place 500 years before WFB?) Side note: While I'm not sure that was by the letter of the rules, it made sense to me that I should have to roll an ini test to get out of the way of a falling gobbo. Funnily enough, my hero lost an eye on the serious injury roll. "it's all fun and games until someone loses an eye... then it's all fun and games without depth perception!" | |

| For a first run with washes, my advice will be: THIN THEM DOWN.
i.e. Place a drop of ink in your palette, and add 1 or 2 drops of water and mix.
Then "paint" it liberally over the area your aiming to shade, but don't let it form into puddles, so if this happens, you may need to "clean" it with the tip of a paper towel or a dry brush.
Let it dry about 2-3 times the normal paint time.
Remember, if the shading is too light, you can apply a second (and a third) wash. But it's much more difficult to fix a very dark wash that alters your base color.
Hope that helps. | |

| Do the washes in thin layers if your not certain about the results, if you lay it on too thick you can just drybrush down the worst and say it was supposed to look that good Excellent ruling on that, those are the stories that make mordheim what it is in my opinion. Next time he's in the pub noone can call him a poser for wearing an eyepatch! EDIT: >_< damn I'm slow today | |

| If you're using the Citadel Washes, then just paint it on strait out of the pot! There's nothing difficult about it, just use a standard brush, dip it in the pot, and start painting the miniature like you normally would! Great stuff, the new Citadel Washes! Hope this helps. | |
