| Hey Tom,
I just became a "warrior" and I have this cool shield with two stars. What does this mean? How do I become cooler?
Thanks, | |

| Ashton, I believe it's all down to the amount of posts that you enter on the forum. After a certain amount of posts, you are promoted through the system, up the ranks...
I'm not sure of exact numbers, but if you check your post-count, you'll be able to figure-out how many posts it took you to achieve your current ranking, and work from their...

| Congrats on your new rank Ashton! The ranks are a way of showing how "active" a member is on the forum. The more you post, the higher you rise in rank. The "cooler" you get Of course, the "post-count" is certainly not the only indicator of an active member. Just having a high rank will not per se bring you the respect of the community. I prefer to see a member with a low post count, that makes interesting contributions with loads of pics, than a member who keeps posting random stuff at a high rate in the "Shout it out" section and has the rank of a half-god. But nevertheless I think it is fun to have ranks. I could give you the rank list with the number of posts you need to achieve them. But I think it is more interesting to suprise you with new ranks. Unless of course you want to know exactly what the ranks will be in advance... but where is the fun in that? NB: The Admin does not gain ranks. I am stuck with my little icon forever. Unless I make a new one for myself | |

| Is there a way of getting our personal rank or status or whatever once we have reached a certain number of posts? | |

| Well, you can reach a top rank if that is what you mean.
I am not sure I undestand what you mean by "personal rank", but there are special ranks, yes. The Rank "Admin" for example is special in that it is: 1) Reserved for the Admin 2) Has a different icon 3) The icon does not change with increasing number of posts.

Actually I think there is also a difference between Silver Stars and Gold stars. I have a little over 20 posts and I have two silver stars. Cianty has over 100 posts, and He's got two gold stars.... thus I believe the one gold star is "cooler" than 5 silver stars. =) EDIT: Hahah... and this post put me up to 25 posts, and now I have 3 stars lol

| LOL! It's so funny to listen to you guys hypothesise about my ranks system But you are all right. That was my idea: each rank gets one more star that the previous (the icon changes every 2 ranks). Since I can't put 25 stars over an icon, I introduced "gold stars". The star-counter is reset to 1 and goes from "silver" to "gold" when you become a "Knight". I took the idea from my time at the military service . In the austrian army "lower-officers" have 1, 2 and 3 silver stars (and stripes), "officers" have 1, 2 and 3 gold stars. | |

If that was the case I'd be somewhere between pope and modern-times pharao or something while the rest of you would be struggling to rise above the peasant status. Just kidding. Nice system, Tom, by the way! I like it just like I love the whole layout of the forum. It sure is the best lokking forum I've ever had the pleasure being a member of. Respect!
