| Hi, Does anyone know of any rules for skeleton horse mounts? My nephew has some skeletons on skeleton horses and wants to play with them. If there are no rules then would someone have their stats? I don't know whether the stats & rules for Warhammer translate directly into Mordheim but if they do then those might be a start if there is nothing else available. Thanks | |

| The skeletal steed in both the warhammer tomb kings army list and the mordheim tomb guardians list has the following profile:
M8 WS2 BS- S3 T3 W1 I2 Ld5 It'd have the special rules for undead as well (immune to psychology, fear, and can't run being the important ones for a steed).
Incidentally, the above profile is EXACTLY the same as the one listed for the Nightmare mount in the mordheim rules. I would have thought the nightmare would have more impressive stats or rules. Anyways, the nightmare is 95 gold, so I imagine the skeleton steed would be as well.

| Download Empire in Flames from the Mordheim resources section on the GW site. It has the full rules for using mounts, including Nightmares which are basically skeletal steeds. | |

| In the Mordheim Annual there is an article called "Blazing Saddles" that introduces extended mounted rules compared to that one pager in the Optional Rules section of the Mordheim rulebook. That article includes Undead horse (Nightmares) as well as Chaos Steeds, Giant Spiders and many more race-specific steeds. The same article (with a few less mounts) was reprinted in the Empire in Flames book.
EDIT: Dammit, Catferret!

I'd have thought the opposite! As nightmares are zombie-horses and skellingtons are more powerful than zombies.

| I guess my perception of the fantasy creature dubbed "nightmare" is a jet black horse which can fly and has a mane, a tail, hooves, and eyes of fire. (A perception most likely formed through fantasy vidogames and M:TG). This creature is undoubtedly more impressive than a brittle collection of horse bones , but I realize that each fantasy setting has a very different take on mythical creatures. (i.e. Tolkien's elves vs. Harry Potter elves...) | |

| Potter's elves are very bizzare! But, yes, the WHFB nightmares are zombie-horses (they're are also good zombie-horses in the Abhorsen series, actually, those books just have good necromancy in all areas). | |

| Aha! I am somewhat redeemed in my Warhammer knowledge. A quick look at the gamesworkshop site (aka store of horror) shows several "nightmares" ranging from black horses to Mannfred von Carstein's own mount, a zombie/skeleton hybrid. Their stats are +1 WS, S, & T above the skeletal steed. There's also a "Hellsteed" which is identical statwise to a nightmare, but it flies. Unfortunately none of these are modeled with flames emanating from them Err, I seem to be derailing this thread (which already has several satisfactory answers) into the "fluff" category... | |

| Well, I don't know what the MOUNT is, but in the old WFB, Skeletal Knights could ride through terrain. If the mount is a Vampire or Skeleton, what if the rider can move through terrain and friendly models on a successful Leadership test? (If he fails the leadership test, he stops, in base contact with the object.) He cannot end his turn inside terrain, or he's instantly taken OOA. | |

| Thank you all. We already have a Vampire on a Nightmare so we'll just use similar stats and rules for the skeletal steeds. | |

| @StyrofoamKing & Identity: Oh oh! I know this one! - Spoiler:
[OTFLUFF] Skeletal steeds are ethereal for all movement purposes (think of it sort of like a marionette as it has no flesh and therefore require a bit more mind juice to operate)
A nightmare on the other hand can be either A. a reanimated horse B. Reanimated bits of a horse (with lots and lots of funky bits like wood, armour bones and parts of forgein animals) C.Undead horsies raised from undead horsies (not all that educated on the specifics on that one though...) these are the ones with the burning hooves and the sulfurous nostril flaring.
The hellsteed is more of a Freeform type necromantic construct based on the general outline on a horse, Think Pegasus evil twin from hell and you are halfway there. [/OTFLUFF]

The bugger I never get to finish thanks to my cat who gets a bit shaky whenever I bring 'im out. (thats the guy on the left...)
Slight difference in playing style compared to the horsie (on his head)

| What's the opening for monsters in the new rule-book? CAn you still have a Blood Dragon count on winged-nightmare dish out five WS10 S5 and 3 WS 4 S5 attacks, while being able to fly and causing terror? (Slam one of those into the back of unit and it really goes fast!) | |

| Another option, of course, is to make the Skeletal Steeds the Undead version of a 'Horse', while the Nightmare is the "Warhorse". The steed would be cheaper, but doesn't get an attack. | |

That's an interesting idea. I'll have to have a look at the rules again when I get home.
