Dwarves best LGT skills?

Which skills are best to choose for a lads got talent dwarf? Should you always take the dwarf skills?

I mostly take shooting and special skills, but this is ofc only íf he going to be shooting, thunder LGT.

If going for melee im take strength and combat or special.

Any otehr experienced dwarf players with opinions?

While I'm not a Dwarf player, I may still be able to offer you some sensible advice.

With only 2 skill sets available to a "ladded" hero, you need to concentrate on what you want them to do. Therefore the first skill table should be themed to their role. A close combat warrior wants to be maximising his chances of droppinghis opponent, or acting as a blocker to protect weaker models. In this case I would select Strength over Combat. Bonuses to criticals or injury rolls are all fine and well but you need to wound in the first place. Mighty Blow (or Strongman indirectly) will boost the chances of actually causing some damage. Resilient combined with Dwarven toughness will mean your model will stay in the fight longer. Causing Fear is also very useful both for stopping an opponent charging you, or allowing you to charge Undead without risking failing a check.

Missile troops would take Ranged skills to either improve accuracy to make shots count, or increase mobility.

The second skill set would usually be something to either boost your first skills or make the Hero more likely to survive another day. I would normally choose Speed for access to increased movement, Jump Up or the ability to dodge missile fire. However this is not available to Dwarves so we look to the survival skills from the Dwarf Special skills table. The skills there are good for any model. Most of them go some way to either keeping the model on the table, or minimising the chance of them dying if they are taken out. Resource Hunter, on the other hand, is useful for increasing the chances of getting doubles, triples, etc on the exploration roll. Free equipment or Hired Swords is not to be sneezed at.

Thanks, the dwarven skills have alot of survival skills, guess ill take that one on my lgt dwarves.

Not sure if shooting skills are better then strength skills though, even for a crossbow dwarf.

Well, normally IMHO you can choose 2 skills lists...AND the race skill list (then, 3 lists) . I mean, you're a dwarf, you have your race skills because...are you race.

Are you sure that counts? Seems strange, because you have to 'learn' the combat skills, but the race skills are inherent. At which page of RB i can read more about that?

Current dwarf heroes can use the race ones can't they? if so then i dont see why a new dwarf hero couldnt learn from them and 2 others

Because access to special skills is indicated with the starting heroes explicitly. When you become a Hero you must choose two of the skill tables available to your warband and the special skil table is one of them. Sorry, but that's the official rule

A: The Lad’s Got Talent result says “You may choose two skill lists available to Heroes in your warband”, and as your warband’s specialist skills ARE available to your Heroes that list does indeed take up one of those two if it is one of those chosen.

Ah thats ok then Cianty, couldnt remember myself if as said racial skills were auto included before picking 2 from the official ones. case closed thanks to you

Just want to point out that the skill "Powerful Build" owns this ruling. Just one more way the Shadow Warriors are overpowered!
