VAMPIRE HUNTERS???

'Ello!
Just wondering if there are rules for a Vampire Hunter Warband. Anyone know a link or if anyone ever thought about doing it.

I don't think that file is up-to-date as the warband list was later published in issue 5 of the Letters of the Damned.

FUNNY YOU SHOULD MENTION IT...I've just painted up a Rackham mini as a Vampire Hunter [seemed more noble than burning old ladies ]. I though I'd add a Priest of Morr to a Witch Hunter Warband with some counts-as pieces. As a solo gamer I CAN get away with A LOT of things [easy to convince my group ].

Well, what's legal nowadays? If you mean "official", then for "official" rules you need to resort to the rulebook, Mordheim Annual and the Empire in Flames book. Everything else is fan-made stuff with a (heavily) varying degree of quality and fairness. Tom "Brahm", however, did a great job with developing and releasing the Letters of the Damned ezine. As a games store owner he has his own league of playtesters so you can trust his works and the material from LOD. You just need to be wary of the random stuff on forums and websites. But that's what the grading system of the Watchtower is for.

I have always really wanted to do a Castlevania themed warband....

There's also a great one at Killer Shrike's website. You can get a Vampyre/Dhampire character, who starts with low stats, but has the same max stats as a vampire. You get lucky, he can be a terror. You get UNlucky, you might roll Initiative four times and waste it. My group's played it, and found it very fair, although the person who played it was more concerned about playing for flavor than power gaming.

(Oh, and also lets you have Throwing Knives and Leather Whip, a la Castlevania )

(although, if your group allows, you might want to replace the leather whip for Cat o' Nine Tails from pirates. The Whip has -1 Strength for 5gc, the Cat for +1 Armor for 8gc [heroes only])

If you DO play with Brahm's list, I recommend you raise the price of the dogs to 20gc at least... they're insanely powerful for only 15gc.

I would not raise the price, as the vampire hunters are very closely modelled on the witchhunters. Many henchmen and heroes have only new names, so they share all the strengths and weaknesses of the witchhunters with one notable exception :The lack of flagellants (no flails for their equivalent, only hammers, a significant weakness).
Dogs cost 15 GC for the witchhunters, that should be their cost for vampire hunters.

The Brahm dogs have Toughness 4 and Leadership 10, though.

Huh? In Letters of the Damned 5 they have normal dog stats, T 3 and Ld 6. Since that is the final version of the warband i´d go with the stats in it and leave them at 15 GC.

Huh. Well, if I'm mistaken, than 15gc it is.... (I'm either halucinating, had an earlier version, or thinking of another wardog)
