| Hello everyone! I have this crazy idea for Mordheim a few years now. But now I have the miniatures to really get cracking with it, so here it is: Pocket / mini Mordheim (i need a better title, any suggestions? feel free to post!) Here's the rough sketch:The scale is approximate 50% of standard GW Mordheim and I use 1:72 miniatures (Revell, and the new Caesar Fantasy mini's! goblins, orcs, dwarfs, undead, elves and adventurers! Pictures will come in the painting section!) The miniatures are in fixed positions with fixed equipments, so i'll just have to have enough variation. This has pro's and con's: Pro's:Limited choice, so speeds up warband building No assembly required One time painting, play anytime. Limited Cheesyness Con's:Limited choice, More static positions. You have to paint loads of mini's. (for me it's a con coz i have to paint em all! ) So you'll have a lot of mini's to choose from. For the humans i have 3 per equipment config. so 3 guys with spear, 3 guys with xbow, 3 guys with xbow and sword etc. and an extra one from each config will be tagged as leader to choose from + some special models from the adventurers set. The others will have a small dot on the edge of their base (which i will cut out myself, nice round bases) dot's will be ranging from 1 - 3. so you can easily identify which is who. More details will come later. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I'm starting with one of the two human warbands that will be available. Pictures will come soon (I hope) Both of the human warbands will have a very broad selection, which also include bears, dogs etc. so you can make almost any human warband. (except witch hunters, no xbow pistols ) The other warbands that I'll make one of are: * Pit fighters (using gladiator models) * Orcs 'n Goblins (Caesar fantasy Miniatures) * Dwarfs (Caesar fantasy Miniatures) * Elves, not sure which rules, but i think the shadow warriors one (Caesar fantasy Miniatures) * Vampire Warband, from the MH book, with skeletons instead of zombies (Caesar fantasy Miniatures) 7 warbands in total. I will rewrite some rules from Mordheim. Which I'll post here. A lot of text, a very dared and crazy idea.. So what do you guys think? Paluke | |

| I always liked the idea of skeletons and in our gaming groups we let them play. You know we didn't want to be the non diverse gaming group. | |

| Indeed Chad! They made major improvements! These miniatures got in production near the end of 2007 / begin 2008 IIRC! If it weren't for these I think I would never have started 1:72 mordheim.. Small update! For the bases I'm using a five eurocent piece! just tried it out this evening and they are perfect! 2 cm diameter AND weighted! so they do not tip over! (not to mention: cheap and directly ready for use!) I'm excited! Are you guys interested in Work in Progress pictures? | |

| I'd like to see some WIPs. But wouldn't one-cent pieces work better? | |

| Warhammer originally called itself 25mm, but has been sneaking closer and closer to 28mm each release.
Are you keeping the measurements scale? 4" movement and everything? Or are you scaling it down some? It doesn't make a major difference for Warhammer, but when it comes to climbing a 1" tall wall that is larger than your miniature, it might make some sense to change a few things.

| Actually, it is more along the lines of 30mm now. 15mm is an othe rpossible scale for a reduced size mordheim if you dare The "pronbel" with using those scales is that most minis have some kind of obvious armour, so you need to rewrite some parts of the mpordheim rules to make them worthwile as troop choices (basically reduce the cost of armor and make shields better, most of the time) Cheers, Xavi | |

25mm = 1:73 So... 1:72 is only slightly smaller than what 'our' current models are? If so, how much room are you gonna save with this "travelling edition"?

| Paluke, perhaps you could post a pic of one of your small minis next to an ordinary GW mini? | |

| I think the big advantage will be in their skinnyness. But I can get an entire warband into a Min-Maglite box... | |

| I've done more research and forgotten about this thread, until Bean965 mentioned it. The scale of 1:72 mordheim is 65% of normal mordheim. 48" (4 foot) would translate into 31.2" rounded down = 31" table (for the metric guys its 80cm) movement would also be 2.6" rounded up is 3" charge 6" Dwarfs move 2" (1.95"rounded up) and charge 4" So i will be releasing a "booklet" with the new rules, based on vanilla mordheim | |

Here is the comparison!
(one other thing, the 1:72 are a LOT cheaper..) I am eager to start collecting "smaller" mini's Because I want lots of terrain and I want to be able to store it. I have one large modular dungeon now, but I want a range of different locations to fight in as well as fortresses and towns and I want those to represent different races. If I keep building terrain at "30mm" scale I will quickly run out of room to keep it. I cannot believe the creep I am seeing above. "30mm"!? Somebody should tell GW they should make "28 mm" or "25mm" figures again. Is this a conscious decision to make old stock redundant over time? Anyway I want loads of cheap mini's and don't mind losing detail if I can buy 40 to 50 figures for the price of one 30mm one. I can see my dungeon overflowing with creeps already . Besides dungeon crawlers and skirmish I want to get some HOTT and crossfire type games started and this requires stands of at least three figures per base. Thank you for the links and research.
