| I have some problems with the pitfighter, he carrys a morningstar (two handed weapon) and a spiked gauntlet (a aadditional handweapon and a buckler). How das it exactly works? if you choose the spiked gauntlet I understand, you can only make a attack with your spiked gauntlet at +1 str on the firts turn (and cant use the buckler). But if you use the spiked gauntlet, do you just make 2 attacks (he has 2 attacks on his profile) and you can parry with the buckler. Or do you make 3 attacks (2 attacks on his profile and one for his additional handweapon) and you can parry with the buckler? | |

| the pit fighter entry is an example of the fact that the rules need updating. what is presumably meant is that the pit fighter can ignore the rules for two-handed weapons and wield morning star, vanilla weapon and buckler all at the same time! basically, he is armed with a sword and a morning star and can use both! otherwise there'd be no point in writing: "and no: your heroes cannot learn to use it" - because heroes can use a sword. so under vanilla rules he has two attacks with morning star and one with spike for a total of three attacks as i said, needs updating

| The Morning Star is a single handed weapon. It's difficult to use, which is why, WITH THE EXCEPTION of the Pit Fighter, it can't be used with another weapon or buckler. @Ash: no offense intended, you seem to have a fixation with finding a rationale in everything to change the rules. It would have been helpful, however, if the folks who wrote the rules actually knew something about the weapons they were writing the rules for. | |

| DeafNala: What do you mean? I gave the right answer, did I not?
Nowhere in the Pit Fighter entry does it say directly what the player actually needs to know: That he can ignore the 'difficult to use' penalty of the morning star

| Please excuse the off topic, MagnoliaFan. I stand corrected. It DOES NOT state that he may ignore the difficult to use rule. I just assumed that the Pit Fighter was trained to use the weapon with the spiked gauntlet, since he has both & has the additional attack in his profile. An instance where the rules writers past & present do not know their weapons would be the blunderbuss. It is IN FACT a VERY easy weapon to load, AND canbe fired at a higher rate than a conventional handgun. Having built one & fired it, I have found this to be the case. There are other instances. | |

| Interesting. I clearly don't read into the rules enough. I always played he just fights with both no questions. The man's a pit fighter - he was bred to kill, so if he has to break the rules to do it, then by god he will! | |

| DeafNala: Cool thing that you take it that way Since the OP has been answered, please tell me more about the real life blunderbuss. How does it work? How would you model one in MH if YOU had to write the rules for it? | |

| Back in ye olde dayes, the original version of the Pitfighter Warband had a rule allowing the use of difficult to use weapons with other weapons. Sadly this rule was never erratad into the rules for the Hired Sword. All the groups I've played with have always house ruled it so it does apply, but that doesn't help those people who demand every little detail to be in an accepted publication. | |

while I always read and interpreted the rulebook in the colloquial style that it is written, there is no denying that the rulebook is full of stuff like this Eshin Sorcerer has different names Blowpipe has different prices Duelling Pistols have different prices (this was FAQ'd to mean, that they only cost 25gc on startup ) and so on...

| It's the same with the blowpipe, there's an errata on its price. But that's not the topic... | |
