| Heya! A while ago, I bought a huge bunch of different Chaos models and decided to start a Marauder warband, too (even though I got a number of not even nearly finished warbands floating around and noone to play anyway...). I assembled some marauders who I will show once they get some paint (they are currently undercoated and undercoated minis don't look too well on photographs). However, I converted a hero who looks a little cooler: And here is the beginning of another one. Unfortunately, I don't have any Chaos Knights arms And last and least are some conversions which have not too much to do with the marauders: A Chaos Dwarf: And a Bestigor (if I can find a good explanation how he got his horns through the helmet) Feel free to criticise and comment. | |

| Wow! They all look great! I especially like the first one, and the second one too. Do you have the Marauder Horsemen by chance? They have some great bits, especially the head. | |

| I wish I had the new Chaos plastics... unfortunately, I don't need them, and they are too expensive to buy for a bunch of marauders, so I have to rely on buying single parts online (like the ones used with this conversion). Unfortunately, I almost always miss restocking of parts, so the coolest are sold out already when I sneak by. But if anyone has some marauder and knights parts he don't need, I am willing to trade | |

| Those new chaos plastics are so good! And you've done some good work with them and all! With regards to the bestigor could he actually be an especially vicious ungor (or whatever the ungor without horns are called, is it bray?) who wears the helmet to make up for his lack of horns? I know the ungor are usually the lowest of the low but he might have just had enough of it and became really kickass! | |

Two options: 1) Chaos Armour is slowly encasing him as the chaos Gods seek to defend a champion with promise OR 2) Magic. Basically, magic explains anything.

On the Helmet: you could make it look hinged, like a knights helmet, with the visor moving up & down [just cut a groove across the top from horn to horn to imply the hinging ]. OR , if you're feeling ambitious, you could cut away the area from the ears/horns down like a Greek helmet. On the plastic bits: while it may seem like a waste of $s buying boxes of minis for a few parts, if you're into conversions, stock piling extra parts IS an investment in the future. NOT ONLY is having the parts you need at hand when you start your projects a BIG plus, but the parts themselves will often inspire new converting ideas. CAVEAT: if you're going to stockpile your parts, get a few of the crafters storage cases with all the little compartments to organize your supplies. BTW all the new conversion, including the Orcs from your other thread, ARE ubercool!

| Thanks for the comments.
As for the Bestigor, I decided to go with the hinged variant and cut a little groove across the top. Will add some greenstuff straps later.

| Hm. Then I'm afraid I can't really help you, as this is, apart from the Orc Pirates, the only GS work I have ever done. Filling gaps explains itself, all I did with the Chaos Dwarf was to follow the instructory video I posted a link to in the Tutorial section, the masc is not sculpted but greenstuff-cast... The only thing I think I learned so far is that you need not to wait ages for the greenstuff to harden but can work straight away. Even though the belt buckle did prove to be a lot easier with after the greenstuff had set for a couple of hours (it did stick less to the tools and you could press it a little harder onto the belt without ruining it beyond recognition). Oh, and if you ever do belts, be sure you really know how they look. After I had attached the little thing which keeps the belt in place, I noticed it was the wrong way round | |

| Okay, what about clearing waste GS out from the gaps you've cut in it? Everytime I try it just sticks to everything around it (including my tools). Putting extra water on the tools doesn't seem to help... | |

| Oh, I did not cut the gaps, I just pressed them in. Any extra GS, I always scratched out. If it sticks to you tools, just let it harden an hour or two longer and it should go out easier, without sticking to the tools to much and without damaging the stuff you sculpted. | |

| Just tried that: works great! And another (rather embarrasing thing) is that i've been doing all my sculpting when I'd just finished modeling, so I still had wet glue on my fingers! Do'h! | |

| Looks like I haven't commented yet on this thread. This is some awesome work, Eliazar! Using Gor torsos for marauders is a great idea, as in "really great". Love that. Your green stuffing is pretty damn good as well. I really like the look of your marauders and look forward to seeing them in full colour. | |

| Thank you thank you everyone! The Gor-tprsp warrior is already undercoated and I hope to paint it within the next couple of days (that is, if my state of health improves). As for the Chaos Dwarf, I did him just to practice with GS a little | |
