Yesterday the new Campaign Tales of the Town Cryer was launched in southern Sweden. Seven out of Ten registered Mordheim players attended the first out of many games to come. Usually we just play with the standard ruleset, but for this campaign i wanted to do something more.
So i started to modify the rules to my liking, added weather, misfires, friendly fire, insanity and much much more. The campaign will not just stick to the regular Mordheim setting so, i desided to incorparate other expansions into the game depending on what type of scenario i choose for the day.
There will be regular Mordheim, a vast modular sewer and ore mine system, empire in flames and so on. Pretty much where the Town Cryer tales takes the warbands. The idea is to never experience the same match again.
For the first day we had:
Gunnery School of Nuln (Me
)
Reikland Mercenaries
High Elves
Pirate Crew
Cult of the Possessed
Orc Mob
Lizardmen
On to the highlights.
Dices were rolled and the Pirates deployed first in this "Lost Prince" scenario, taking one of the best positions to get to him fast. The rest spread out on the limited deployment zones on the board. For some reason the Pirates won the roll to go first aswell and the game was on. People started to make their way to the middle town square where the Prince was. The Reiklanders opened fire and wounded the Cults Possessed.
As of now the Pirates was closest to the Prince and things really started to happen, arrows started flying everywhere as the Lizardmen advanced towards the High Elves. One of the Skinks suffered a minor wound from the elven longbows and was knocked off his feet, while the rest charged into the elven swordmasters. Out of seven attacks in the pile of flesh noone got hurt. Suddenly the building next to where this fight was held collapsed and spread debris all over the area, luckily (
) noone was hurt eventhough everyone had hoped that the collapsing build would be the elven one.
The players was still closing in on each other and the next round would be the one where things started to happen.
The Pirates grabbed the Prince and started moving towards their table edge. More Lizardmen died as half the High Elf warband took a dive and charged into the pile on ground level. One of the Orc Uns thought the Shaman said something to offend him and slaughtered him infront of the other Orcs. One Nuln Pistolier saw something in a small pool of water and got to reroll one dice in the next phase, as one of the Possessed charged the Nulnian Pistol crew and got gunned down in an instant. Suddenly a thick fog blew over the city and vision was limited to 2D6", poor longrange shooters.
The Possessed was lining up for a charge on the Reiklands, but managed to roll snake eyes (double 1) on the visibility and missed his charge by one inch. The Nuln Pistoliers was charged by another Possessed and this one killed the Senior Student with a mighty crit, only to be gunned down by the remaining Pistoliers. Seeing an opening the two Blunderbuss Pirates fired their guns on the remaining Lizardmen, for a total of 6 hits but only managed to knock down one. Making the Lizardmen rout and leave the table. As a revenge for their lost Shaman, the Orc leader got a nice Animosity charge on one of the Pirates and two other Big Uns joined in, killing two crewmen only to see their leader get gutted by one of the deckhands knife.
At this point it was starting to get really late and the Pirate desided it was time to take the Prince off the table and end the game.
As you can see, the city is still in its WIP stages, but we are working on it.
