| Hi guys,
what glues do you find best for gluing together foam board? (the 2 thin sheets of plastic that sandwich thin layer of foam).
I am going to be attempting my first buildings and need to know the best tired and true methods of gluing the boards and the wood together....anyone?
Thanks | |

| Hot glue gun, or I use 'No More nails' bonder for interior use. its actually very awesome. and you can paint over it after no problem. costs only a few quid for a tube also.
I use it for sticking my building sides to each other and a hot glue gun for sticking the buildings to the bases.
The whole heating up thing make sthe tube easier as i squeese it on and it sticks after a few minutes. _________________

| I use ordinary (handi)craft glue, it's quite cheap and holds well. And there is no risk you end up burning yourself | |

| As mentioned above - no more nails - bonds great, can be used to "seal" foam ends to enable spray painting, fills gaps where needed, can be smoothed with a wet finger, can be repositioned for the first several minutes without loss of adhesion or weakening - great stuff all around | |

Yup, Elmer's dries too hard & cracks in time. The glue glue hardens in a few seconds, stays pliable, & can be removed with a heated knife. For really large areas Liquid Nails [what it's called on this side of the Pond ] is the way to go. For jobs like adhering scenicing materials like sand & scatter, a tacky glue like Alene's Tacky is superior to Elmer's as it remains pliable & is a somewhat stronger bond.

| The foam board I use is foam sandwiched between layers of heavy paper, yours uses plastic?. I use a good quality wood glue for foam board, cardboard, wood, and any other paper products. I've had excellent success with it. I use elmers out of the tube and watered down (so it's like milk) for scenery. This has always worked well for me. Any plastic on plastic I use plastic cement, It's an old testors tube which I've had for about 15 years already and is still going strong. Any bits with metal get a super glue. | |

| well, it is a shiny type of paper yeah, wood glue, or ordinary "hobbyglue" and if that doesn't work.. LOTS of glue hehe... just like explosives... doesn't work the first time, add twice as many! but yeah, on some constructions (just thin walls not supported by anything, I use toothpicks for pins... slide in easy enough, and they are cheap, and they work great with wood glue (as long as you're using woodglue hehe) just try a bunch, and use your own preferred way... foam is easily glued since it is rather porous, any mass will stick. | |
