PostSubject: Potential Cultists   Sat 2 Jun 2018 - 3:42

GW have just previewed the new House Cawdor models for Necromunda, & they're heavy on the mediaeval cultishness.

At first I thought how cool they are as Cawdor gangers & Imperial cultists (the crude imitation guardian-spears are a nice touch). Then I put my Mordheim hat on & realised they could be kitbashed into first rate Cultists or Carnival of Chaos jesters, or even Bretonnian relic pilgrims. All in all, there's a lot of potential there!

Full preview about halfway through this:

I agree- It wouldn't seem like too much of a stretch for them to be cultists. I may have to pick some up.

GW had some fine releases in the younger past, thanks for pointing these out. They could also work for undead Dreggs, Witchhunter henchmen or a Necromancer's retinue for Frostgrave...

Oh, and I remember someone kitbashing some nice Skaven out of Mantic Ghouls. These Cawdors here could also be a basis for some ratmen-men.

They are a really great kit, the best one from Necromunda so far.

This guy also has some cross over potential.

The Executioner model feels a lot like a Mordheim illustration that escaped into Necromunda...

all that is needed is some minor work on the left leg to change the ribbed armour.

funny - just purchased a box today, thinking along the lines of you rather more experienced mordheimers ... one thing I'm concerned about is the size of the figures - I'm hoping they're not giants compared to the original plastic mercenaries (for example) ...

If I don't come across any examples illustrating that otherwise, I'll try and put something up here in due course.

I was just talking about this today. New Necromunda (N17) models are on a larger scale than most current GW models, & definitely bigger than Mordheim models. But the Cawdor models are supposed to be stunted little men, so they seem to balance out & work OK with most heroic scale parts!

oh, interesting and (possibly) hopeful...

mine are being mailed so I can't so anything yet (don't think I'll cancel - but might have to try and return the box if I feel they're obviously bigger, even at playing distance ...).

ok, so I got a box today. And I think it is good news after all - they seem to match well with the original plastic mercenaries, although I haven't put one together yet.
