Greetings all,

When a wizard gains a new skill they may instead choose to roll for a new spell and if it is the same spell may lower the difficulty by -1.

My question is this: If you happen to roll the spell a 3rd time do you think it could be lowered by a further -1 for a total of -2 to the difficulty or can a spell only be reduced once?

Regards,

It has always been my understanding that this is the intention of the rules.

I honestly see nothing wrong with keep on rudcing the dufficlty of the spell each time. It is balanxed because of the sacferice you have to make. First, it takes awhile to gain a level. Then you its not really esy to gain a new skill (or new spell etc). So it would take a lot of work and time for tht to happen. And besides, ignoring skills could be bad. What if the speel caster takes a hit nd goes OOA? If he would have takem the worrior wizrd skill, he could have lived....it balances out.

Thanks for the replies. I have a player who thought that the difficulty could keep being lowered as long as you kept getting the spell. We just were not completely certain.

I agree that not taking skills is a risk. My player really wants to lower his spells as much as possible, which is his choice.

I am sure I read that rule at some point, but dang it didn't stick so I just learned something. We have always rerolled for a different spell. Thanks, cuchulain.
