Bellowing Battle Roar!

I was just re-reading the Lizardmen rules and stumbled upon a skill, which I have yet to make use of, because I'm unsure about the excact effect of the skill. It says:

"Bellowing Battle Roar: The Saurus’ roar is so deafening that enemy models in base contact suffer -1 to hit in the first round of combat against them."

It's the "them", which I am confused about. Usually a skill like this would affect hits against the warrior with the skill, but I could also imagine, that this roar from one Saurus made other Saurus warriors more intimidating.

Anyone who knows how excactly to interpretate this?

I don't know anything about playing Lizardmen, but by the context and wording, I would assume it just affects the warriors facing only the Saurus which has the skill. It's the only way that would make sense to me

I think this is just a mistake, and the writer probably thought it was plural (as the plural form of saurus is saurus). In gaming terms this means that only models in base contact with the saurus get this penalty, and also they only get the penalty if they attack him, not any other other models (i.e. a model is in base contact with both a saurus and a skink. If he decides to attack the skink, he does not get the penalty although he is in base contact with the saurus.)

We play that it applies to the Saurus with the skill only.

The warband is unofficial after all, its rules don't bare too much direct scrutiny.

As to searching for a definitive answer I would suggest joining the Yahoo Mordheim group. Several members are old-timey Mordheim veterans who might have some insight if you can rouse them to answer.

Good suggestion, I'm already a member, so that wouldn't be too hard, but I'll probably just go with the interpretation all of you suggests, since my group already thinks Lizardmen are "too OP!"
