| (On the picture: My current social life. Just kidding... )
Greetings and welcome, fellow travelers, raiders and noble vermin! Herzlich Willkommen zum Kompendium Jenensis, hohe Herren, edle Damen und Gesocks!
Today I would like to start showing a few minis I painted over the last couple of months.
At first a few words about me and our TT-Group: I started with the tabletop hobby back in the nineties. As a teenager I was fascinated by the miniatures, the games and especially the background stories. In 1999 I was very interested in Mordheim, but unfortunately I lived in an area with not so many tabletop gamers, and those guys prefered WFB or 40k. (Which I like also, btw...) In 2009 I went to Jena in Thuringia. Jena is well known for its big LARP, RP and TT community, due to more than 30.000 University students (nearly one third of its total population).
In 2012 I finally founded a Mordheim group. Now we have five highly motivated gamers, around 30 years of age, meeting from time to time and having much fun, playing at my place.
To make our beloved specialist game more attractive, I started to establish suitable terrain and offer several warbands, to give new people the opportunity to just pick a warband to play with us.
So the Seven-Warbands-Project was born on may 1st 2012.
I decided to create not less than seven different warbands, including buying, planning, modelling and painting. A horrific plan, for I am running a painting service among my university studies, which means: I paint up to 1000 minis a year! (Well, yeah, I DO have a girlfriend, and yes, I have other hobbies and activities as well. ) On top of that, I set myself a deadline: may, 1st, 2013. And you know what? 5 out of 7 warbands are already done!
Here are my guys and gals so far, beginning with the Elves!.
The following elves are destined for being mercenaries in other warbands, but I also reserve them to go on their own, maybe as Shadow Elves.
Without further due: Warband No. 1:
The Elves
Our good and well known friend Aenur.
My Elven Mage/Witcher, surrounded by Ghouls and Giant Rats. (Bitz: Wood Elves, High Elves, Garden of Morr, Battle for Skull Pass)
My Elven Pathfinder, in quite the same trouble. (Bitz: Legs from High Elves Archers, Body from two Elf-Riders backs ((!), assembled together with GS), Head: Silver Helms, Bow: Wood Elves, Toxic Mushrooms: Battle for Skull Pass-Goblin Standart)
Hope you like them. Please share your opinion, if you like. I'm planning to introduce the next warband tomorrow. ^^

| Thanks, HumanFly! The background is not so spectacular, just the camera angle is quite benefical. It's just red wallpaper, as you can see here. ^^ | |

| Okay guys, one final pic for this day. A random encounter mark: Warbands must reach these lady prisoners to rescue, enslave or kill them (or to turn them undead). Further warbands and new scenery tomorrow. | |

| Okay, next WIP-warband:
Brothers Schlimm
The Brothers Schlimm are quite an experimental kind of warband. I was wondering if it is possible to stay under a total of 6 members through a whole campaign. I know, you have to get more members in order to get more gold, but hey, atmospheric play beats efficency, in my opinion. And for these guys I very much hope, that quality beats quantity. Yeah, the idea ist naive, but the Brothers are naive, too.
I use the Middenheim-Rules for these Brothers-Grimm-inspired folks.
Captain and Champion: "Jakob Schlimm" (Brace of duell-pistols) and "Wilhelm Schlimm" (2H), accompanied by "Fritz, the Veiled" (2 (short) Swords), "Sebastian" (Youngblood with Crossbow) and "Gregor" (Hochland Long Rifle) Minis still WIP, you can see that they have no eyes so far.
The two young Brothers are looking for horror stories and fame, to impress the young ladies back in Middenheim and elsewhere. They spent all their money for hiring their incompetent companions and a Hochland Long Rifle, unfortunately too heavy (=annoying) to carry by one of the Schlimms , so they put it into the hands of stupid but strong Gregor. Back in Middenheim they thougt that might be a reasoned and good plan, but now, after a few expeditions into the ruins they begin to realize, that they had come to hell.
After the next games I'm gonna add the last member: A second Hochland Long Rifle bearer. They will also hire a mercenary, I suppose. Maybe the Elven mage as you can see in my firstpost. Every member will get lots of cool stuff like lucky charms, rope and hooks, and, if possible: Drugs, drugs, drugs. They will go totally crazy and addicted, taking every opportunity to compensate their quantity.
I have played them twice by now, and it is a lot of fun, to be in an inferior position. More pictures to come.
By the way: "Schlimm" is a wordplay. In German it means wicked/bad/upsetting/sad.

| COOL IDEA...although how playable it is with only 2 losses until you route test is another thing. I'm sure you'll get more commentary from those more rules knowledgeable than moi. Using the same head for the Bros. S. gives them the "family look"...maybe twins. If you drill out Jakob's pistols, they'll look much better; a #62 drill bit & a bit of patience is all it takes. Have FUN with the painting! BTW the background scenery in your photos looks EXCELLENT...definitely adds atmosphere to the minis. | |

| Wow, thanks Nala! Yeah, the playability is indeed a problem, but also quite challenging. Oh, and thanks for the drilling hint. My 40k minis are all "drilled", but in WFB I always forget to do so. ^^

| Time for warband No. 4! Tharaks Rowdyz (Tharaks Ruinenrüpelz)Presenting first: "Tharak Gazrak", accompanied by his banner bearer "Fitz" and Champion "Da Blue One" on his right. The Stick-Bomb is used as telescope. The archers: "Da Hedgecroachers" Banner bearer "Fitz" and his Nightgobbomate "Flitz" Orc shaman "Aunt Morka", and Gobbo-Archer "Glitsch" The other champion: "Da Red Scrapa" Orcs are a really, really cool warband! I bought them a troll right at the beginning of the campaign. Now, after just 5 games, the Orcs are nearly unbeatable. They are cheap, they are vicious and they are many. This is my list: Tharak, 2xOrc-Champions, 2xOrc Archers, 2xGobbo Archers, 2xSpear Gobbos, 1 Shaman, 1 Troll And there is a further information worth mentioning: The orc minis are completely taken from the 40k Black Reach-Box, except the orc witch/shaman, which is a Reaper miniature. Orcs are very fun to play, I can highly recommend them, even to beginners! | |

| I agree that Orcs are COOL; not as OH-SO-COOL as Goblins, but COOL nonetheless. Your War Band proves this out. While the photos are a bit fuzzy, the quality of your brushwork & basing shine through. VERY WELL DONE! | |

I prefer the snots! Those are some really nice warbands! I especially like the middenheimers, the cloaks on theme are very well painted. It seems you have a lot on your plate at the moment, but you are pulling it of in style!! I look forward to see more | |

| Hey, just found this thread from clicking on a link at Tabletopwelt. Totally missed out on this one so far. You said (at TTW) that your gaming group is still doing well? | |

| Yeah, we meet twice a month. Our group is growing from month to month. We have nine members at the moment. Fortunately there are many guys out there who are interested in Tabletop but too busy to start with Warhammer Fantasy or 40k. So they gave Mordheim a try and now we need a second table. We just had a six-bands-multiplayer-match a couple of weeks ago and it was awesome! I am currently working on two new warbands. The Treasure Hunters and the Undead. I hope to finish them soon to present them here. | |
