Does anyone want to see new campaign rules?

I'm thinking that I should be putting some playable content up on the blog for groups to ponder or mess around with. It would be inter-linked so not everything would be explained all at once. As a starting point I have some material in mind (from the city vault of secret deals).

Okay I was trying to write up a dramatic report for the UK Games Day event we went to on the weekend.

Seeing as I don't have the photographs handy just yet I have now published a snippet of campaign activity instead... Hopefully these will offer some insight into our maritime adventures and provide some useful background for when I unleash a couple of the scenario specifications.

I hadn't seen the cargo chart before and it is cool. It is interesting to see all of the item charts available on the Booty Chart.
* Arcane Items
* Herbs & Potions
* Tainted Items
* Custom Weapons (a way to access double-barrelled rifles?)
* Profane Books

That is an exciting list. Very Happy


@VK... The Booty Chart is shown underneath the Cargo Chart in the image attached to the blog post.

Thank you. Now on the subject of the rules.... looks great so far I was working on treasure cards to create the random rewards for scenarios, but tables are much easier to control (and rules easier to print over cards).

@maxxev: Charts are the way to go. Tried and tested are D6, 2D6 or D66 charts. It's all you need to make things tick. I had to enter the security word 5 times on your blog to leave a comment. What are Google doing to us. I only drank 2 pints at the local tavern. It shouldn't be that much of a trial.

@Rational: Customs Weapons is non-blackpowder weapons. If you want a big gun then best plan is to save up and search for it on the World's Market or launch a midnight raid on the local armoury! This particular weapons chart ties in with a scenario we've been playing called 'Pit of Blood'. I will post links up for a couple of these fun scenarios when I get a moment.

I know what you mean about the security words, been a real pain in the arse recently, telling the difference between lower and upper case has become next to impossible with how close they jumble the bloody words together. IMO they should go for a "closest match", e.g. if I get 7/10 letters in the right place / order then LET ME IN DAMNIT!!! lol.

The only advantage of cards as I see it is that it's a lot easier to add new stuff, just throw out another card on the web for people to download and add to the pile they already have, which makes expansions much much simpler but in every other way lists are easier.

For my sins I still love messing around with cards. Cards allow a lot of flexibility, when you don't lose them under the sofa or table!

My ambition was to bring about definition with meaningful charts in such a way that they would 'feed into' the campaign. Most if not all of these entries came from a historical Mordheim article, or have been interpreted from WFRP, or were inspired by text found in a Black Library publication. Each result is supposed to be linked to the way a scenario is played, how a warband objective is plotted etc.

Putting a lid on the miscellanea allows players a fair crack at fulfilling their objectives without being bogged down in bric-a-brac. Of course that goal in itself might be to the delight of tinkers. One of the merchants in our gaming group is always trying to flog the rest of us junk! And there is all sorts of clutter out in the Market Place.

I've amended the previous blog post slightly to reference Sinking Boats in respect of what will be coming next; Namely a handful of the core scenarios I've been playing with my gaming group in Poole/Bournemouth, plus a spooky special scenario for Halloween reinterpreted from an old favourite of mine.

Sounds like we'll be seeing you for a cameo. And if you could muster a Rangers warband led by a Runesmith that would really make things interesting!

Ok I have scenario PDF's at the ready. Need to compose an introduction as even though the games can played as standalone missions I'm sure they raise all kinds of strange questions.
