Old School Chaos Warriors

Here are some Chaos Warriors I threw together. The one on the left is actually an old "Paladin", but I've recruited him to the dark side. The one second from left is lacking a shield, and the guy in the middle is a sorcerer.

OOOH OLD FAVORITES! It's always nice to see the Old Guys get a state of the art treatment. The color choices & basing are EXCELLENT...VERY WELL DONE!

I have some of the Chaos Warriors/Thugs that I'm going to be putting in the Trading Pit...I let you know before I do in case you need more.

Nice stuff! Some closeups would be appreciated, but I guess I can check out IRL (wait, is that a fitting expression?) soonish.

That would be cool Nala, but being a bit strapped for cash and an ocean away I'm not sure I could buy them, assuming you don't let them go quite cheap.

Not really, but the details are hard to spot to begin... like I said, I can probably check them out anyway, so no need to take new pics for my sake!

Here's my next project, rebasing HeroQuest chaos warriors so they can rank up with each other.

I also have some old heroquest minis lying around, how did you do the rebasing? Could be fun to find some use for them

I cut off the corners so it would fit on a 25 mm base. Then I glued them to a 25 mm bit cut out of an old credit card and filled in the corners with Milliput.

I did that but used them as a base for a 40k thousand sons squad ages ago. I just used the remnants of their bases as rubble and added extra bits or belnded it in using green stuff.

Yes man, thats what ´s it all about: Old School!!! Dont get me wrong , those new minis fromGW are awesome sculpted, nice painted and so on, but what they lack compared to those grand masters shown above is but ONE tiny thing: CHARACTER!! I dont know why, but even the oldies within the studio dont manage it. Well, must to do with the times they were made in, roleplaying and tabletop were in their childshoes, and it wasnt taken that serious as today. Nahh, enough of this old days talk ( removing the saliva ), keep them coming, always a pleasure to see oldies painted as good as yours are, thumbs up!!

Finished the Heroquest chaos warriors:

EXCELLENT! Despite the fact that they are all roughly the same, the overall effect is quite stunning. The minis & the bases are BEAUTIFULLY WELL DONE!

I'm doing something similar with my old HQ models.
Although i'm being a bit more brutal with mine.


I have something of an aversion to cast bases, so i remove them and put them on Slotta's

I guess I can continue to post HeroQuest models in this thread, here are some orcs. I might move them to proper bases later, or do as I did with the chaos warriors, so these will have to do with black bases in the mean time.

I don't like the idea of green orcs, I'm too much of a Tolkien buff for that, so I have red orcs.



The orc in the middle had had his sword cut off, so it was replaced with an old skaven one.

VERY NICELY DONE! I too have abandoned the "green look" in favor of a more natural skin coloration. The different weapons & color choices for their apparel give the Lads a less identical look.

not to go too much of topic but are Tolkiens orcs red?!?! never knew that guess you learn something odd every day

Actually they're "sallow-skinned." A sort of jaundiced yellow. A few specialized breeds were described with black skin, but Tolkien in his letters said "sallow."
