PostSubject: Dreng Tromm's Buildings   Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings Icon_minitimeThu 31 Mar 2011 - 2:35

Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World!

I figured that it was time for me to post something here, so here goes...

This is the Medieval Waterwheel from this company called "Kobblestone Miniatures".

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WARHAMMER003-22

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WARHAMMER002-20

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WARHAMMER001-21

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WARHAMMER005-14

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WARHAMMER004-19

This particular building was a treat to paint and I must say that the guys at Kobbelstone Miniatures really did a wonderful job with this piece of terrain! They have an impressive line of buildings from various time periods and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is serious about acquiring some pretty unique terrain pieces.

I hope you guys like it.

That is a very attractive piece; I like the doors, thatching , & all the interesting angles. Of course what makes the building is your FINE paint job. VERY WELL DONE! thumbsup

Love the Kobblestone stuff (I regularly drool over the pictures at their website), but what really brings it to life is your paintjob, of course. And the complete picture with all the other scenery where it fits in so well - well done! Smile

Thank you very much to SerialMom, floedebolle and Mephysto for your kind compliments. I shall endeavor to post more of my terrain as requested.

Meanwhile, over the weekend, I worked on, what I think would be a humorous point of interest on the watermill and I would like to share it with the community.

The image shown above is a "wanted poster" of a certain popular dwarf slayer in the warhammer world. The poster was taken from GW's plastic plague monks sprue and was handdrawn using a very fine brush.

I hope you like it. Laughing

Let me first acknowledge those wonderful individuals who took the time to go over my posts and made their comments.
Thank you to SerialMom, Von Kurst, DeafNala, and Ninja Goblin. Your kind words are truly encouraging and inspirational.

Allow me to share another fine example of the amazing work those cool guys at Kobblestone Miniatures are doing.

This is the Medieval Inn...

Looks great!
Reminds me of some fairy tale village, looks really idyllic and the only thing missing is Edvard Grieg's "Morning" playing in the background lol!

Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World!

Thank you for the kind comments. Like BurntheWitch, I too hear Edvard Grieg's "Morning Mood" whenever I look at these buildings until the song is interrupted by the drums of war and the cries of the injured and the dying!

At any rate, I was able to finish some more buildings and here is my Medieval Village thus far ...

Added to my collection are the two Kobblestone's Medieval shops/stores

I like the colour palette you use on the houses. Some kind of grey-brown dark movie realism look. Cool!
You should repaint the cows though Wink

PostSubject: Re: Dreng Tromm's Buildings   Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings Icon_minitimeFri 8 Jul 2011 - 5:26

Greetings Fellow Travelers of the Old World!

I have been steadily increasing my collection of Kobblestone Medieval Buildings for my Gaming Table. I simply love these miniature pieces. They are just so structurally accurate in their rendition of Medieval architecture.

Unfortunately however, my other GW and scratch-built buildings have become inconsistent with the new Kobblestone buildings in terms of their over-all look. Consequently, I was at a loss as to what to do with the old terrain pieces.

Initially, I thought of selling them but my wife tried to convince me to simply do something about it.

Having been "creatively" challenged, I thus decided to give my old buildings a second look with the intention of making them more "harmonious" with the new Kobblestone medieval buildings.

As an initial experiment, I opted to focus on something relatively small and so I chose the GW outhouse that came with the Fortified Manor plastic Kit.

I had four of these little outhouses and this was how they looked like...
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse001

From the picture, you could clearly see that the outhouse has plain and "textureless" walls. It also has shingles as roof whereas my Kobblestone medieval buildings sported thatch roofing.

In order to "blend" the outhouse with the more accurate Kobblestone buildings, I decided to re-paint the outhouse and made it more medieval-ish by giving it a predominantly wood effect. This is how it now looks like...
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse003

Notice the big difference?
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse005

The wood grain on both the walls and the roof were all individually hand-painted
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse004

... and with this new look, the outhouse has easily metamorphosed into something that is now more cohesive with my new Kobblestone buildings.
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse006

Here are some more pictures of the new and improved GW outhouse...
Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse007

Buildings - Dreng Tromm's Buildings WHouthouse008

I shall endeavor to take more scenic pictures of this project over the weekend.
I hope you guys like it!

P.S.
Thank you for the kind and generous comments. It is indeed both humbling and inspiring to be acknowledged by one's betters.
