Noob alert [PHOTO HEAVY]

Been browsing this great place for a couple of days. The level of skill and enthusiasm shown by the members here is truly humbling so I thought I'd sign up and see if you can collectively teach this old dog some new tricks.

I've been into Mordheim from the beginning and still remember how excited I was when I learned GW were releasing a boxed set. So excited that I pre-ordered the deluxe set with the mercenaries, skaven, casualties and some metal architectural bits & bobs even though I knew that Witch Hunters, rules unseen, were going to be my warband of choice. Anyway, I'm glad to say I'm still excited by Mordheim 10 years later.

Talking about Witch Hunters, here's a picture of some my shiny, vanilla, ones:



Desperately in need of a blast with Testor's Dullcote as you can see.

As a bonus, some pictures of an old Citadel Dwarf I painted up as a birthday present for a mate's Dwarf warband.



Got to love the old GW figures. I do so much that I've scraped together enough to do warbands using ninja (proxy for Skaven), Scots (Orc proxies) and a Slaanesh cult (proxy Possessed). One of these days, when it rains all night, I'll get them painted.

WELCOME ABOARD, Pilgrim! Doesn't look like this Old Dog needs to learn any new tricks. The Witch Hunters ARE beautifully done, AND that Dwarf IS an exceptional piece. You WILL be a fine addition to our little family. WELL DONE!

IIRC, it was a couple of years ago, it's a very simplified version of his clan tartan. A relatively straightforward and not too fiddly job. The kilt's base was dark green (Dark Angels green?) painted in my usual manner i.e. darkened down for the first coat, straight from the pot for the second, and a little strategic highlighting with a green/bleached bone mix. On top of that were painted the blue lines in a two stage process i.e. base coat and then highlight. Then the same was done with the red lines. I think that as the colours work so well together and because the folds of the kilt hide a multitude of sins, the mind is sort of fooled into thinking it's a better job than it really is.

What a nice way to say "hi". Welcome to the forum! Some really cool models you have there. The face of that close up dwarf looks great.

OOOOOOOOOOOH, VERY NICE STUFF! The Nutters & Holy Guy, Elf Babe & Glutton Rangers, AND the Vertically Challenged Grumps ARE JUST BEAUTIFULLY WELL DONE!
You probably should be posting these in the Gallery rather than the Newbie Section. They ARE quite EXTRAORDINARY pieces.
BTW Spy Glass minis are slowly being rereleased by Eolith www.eolithminiatures.com . HOORAY!

What range are those wardogs from, and what is that armored monstrosity behind your captain?

Also, could we see a few pics of the terrain you employ? Your witch hunters seem to have deployed on a delightfully simple yet useful feature, which is also very pleasing to the eyes. I believe I will have to snatch that idea (is that bamboo you used?)

The hounds are OOP Marauder Miniatures (a short-lived Citadel sister company run by Aly & Trish Morrison) circa 1990. I picked them up on Ebay as I didn't much like the official models. The armoured monstrosity is GW's Mordheim pitfighter ogre.

The terrain belongs to the club in my home town. As I recall, it was picked up by one of our members on the bring & buy at a wargames show. Next time I get down to the club, I'll take my camera with me.

Big kudos on those witch hunters! I like how you replaced the weapons on the Flagellants and the Zealot. Makes them look different from the generic GW models... now I wish I had been as smart when I painted my WHunters
