The HiredSwords Exravaganza

I always play with same hired swords (ogre and warlock) because I dont have anny models for other hired swords. So build some new ones

A duelist:

I didnt have a halfling model, so i made a human cook:

the freelancer knight:


a Tillian marksman:

the pitfighter:


Now I only want build johan th knife some time, because he is the coolest guy in town!

Great conversions! Great job! I think I like the cook best because he looks like he has a strong personality. But the others are great too. You really captured the feel of the hired swords.

They're ALL exceptionally well thought out & executed kit bash/ conversions. The Tilean Marksman & the Corpulent Chef are my personal favorites. VERY WELL DONE!
We all wait with bated breath to see the Lads in GLORIOUS full color!

Wow! I simply love all of your conversions! Well done! Johann is a little less convincing to me than the others, but overall fantastic conversion work. Thanks for the pics.

What? Why?! I beg to differ! In fact, I think this is the best of them all! He nearly looks like an official alternate model. Seriously, this is extremely close to the original...

I think the Johann Conversion is VERY GOOD! I just feel that the original looks a little more slender and conveys a tiny bit more the impression of being "quick on his feet". I get more the impression of speed from the original model.

I think you did a BRILLIANT conversion job on ALL these miniatures, Magnolia Fan, including your Johann. I doubt that I could have done such a good job.

My point was merely that, while I think your Freelancer, duellist etc look better than their original counterparts, for me personally, the Johann conversion does not. It looks as good, but not better. I guess it is the pose that is a little more static in the conversion.

Ah, I see. This Johann looks more... aggressive, straight to the face while the original model is more the sneaky looking over his shoulder type of guy. I actually didn't think about it on that level and I tend to agree with you, Tom.

Nevertheless, a great conversion.

@Tom: I understand what you mean, I was trying to make him look like the artwork. But I had the impression he looked like he was faling over, so i put the tombestone under his feet so stands more upright, like he is fighting with some one or somthing.

I started painting the pitfighter (I need this one in the campaign at my club monday). I wanted to paint him fast but I have more time than with my darkelf warband, so i gave him 2 or 3 highlights per collour. I think its worth it:

The pitfighter with only the wash.

And the finished one, with highlights.

Next one up is Johan!

EXCELLENT MINI! There IS SOME difference between the "just washed" & the highlighted paint jobs. No offense intended, the laurel wreath looks rather washed out in the photo. Other than that minor point, VERY WELL DONE!

I LOVE the way you converted Johann. Looks amazing.
The other minis are of course also great!

yeah like you need an extra combatdude in your warband it is already hard as a rock

@Asp: Of course, The base is from a marauder and I added witch bits the rest are:

PS I forgot the spikes on his gantlet, they are the spiky bits from the dark eldar sprue.

I also put Johan and the chef in the wash, and I'll try to finish it this afternoon.

johan looks very good, except his right hand, which you may be able to fix somehow

as for the chef... well, we'll need to see a shot of him from the back to decide

VERY NICE! Johann looks much truer to his backgound fluff than the original mni; i.e., more sinister. I LOVE the Chef. Echoing Ash a back shot to show off ALL the gear he's carrying would be cool. Once you've highlighted the Lads they are going to ROCK! GOOD WORK!
