| We've gone over the difference between the a wardog (as listed in miscellaneous equipment) and warhound (as listed in the Witch Hunter roster) pretty extensively in relation to warband rating. I believe the general consensus was that yes, in spite of "couting as equipment," the wardog still adds +5 to the rating.
However, does it count as a warrior for other purposes? This came up in my playgroup during the Breakthrough scenario:
"If the attacker manages to move two or more standing warriors to within 2" of the defender’s table edge, they have broken through and he wins the game."
It seems a bit cheese for a Witch Hunter hound to count for this victory condition (since it's a warrior), but not for a mercenary dog (since it's equipment). So once and for all: is it fair to say that, aside from being lost like equipment if its master dies, a wardog in every way counts the same as a warhound?
And on a separate note, animals cannot pick up wyrdstone counters, chests, etc. Correct?

Since warriors who make it to the other table edge gain additional experience ( wardogs don't gain experience), and experience is downright valuable, anyone who does this is missing out (albeit by a tiny amount) on potential gain in the long-term.

| I'd say that Warhounds wouldn't count as a breakthrough - I mean, their Animals, so the priority of them pushing through is quite low right? Correct me if I'm wrong | |

| I concur (except with Popmouth, sorry ) - Warhounds and Wardogs - tis all the same - Count as warriors for all purposes (like the Skaven's giant rats or the beastmen's warhounds) - you miss a lot of experience by enforcing a quick win with them - animals can't pick up things or climb up ladders (unless explicitly stated) | |
