| Mordheim Meetup 2008 - Chapter Three written by Tortiou is here! Tortiou made the explicit request that this report be posted on the forum, as he is going to follow up by sharing an excerpt from the personal journal of a famous Hired Sword with us... Of course you can also find Chapter Three on TBMB!
Tom & Tortiou proudly presentLive from Vienna, Austria, a TBMF&TBMB exclusiveBORING MEETUP BATTLE REPORT*trumpets sounding in the distance* Chapter Three - Street Fighters
The second game we played was a pure, simple and brutal street brawl. Again, we decided to form alliances and thus two teams were opposed. Each team (comprising three warbands) had to start from one end of the street and the scenario objective was to advance as far as possible towards the other end of the street. We roughly defined an "Area of Victory": after 6 turns, for every model standing in this Area of Victory, a team received 1 Victory Point. For every model beyond this Area of Victory, the team received 2 VP (but as you will see, the battle was so fierce that no warrior made it past the 1VP area...) I made a little scheme to explain the objective. Here you can see the limits of the street (red lines) and the Area of Victory (red area)Same as before, but from the opposite point of view:For fun, we also added some Wyrdstone counters. Just like the previous game, we rolled to determine the teams. The results were: Team 1 AdminTom (Witch Hunters) Lanyssa Ryssyll (Dwarves) Tortiou (Reiklanders)
Team 2 Matt (Possessed) Boehm (Dwarves) Erkwin (Reiklanders)
The table is set... the teams are ready... let the show begin!
Two leagues, both alike in dignity, In fair Mordheim, where we lay our scene, From ancient grudge break to new mutiny, Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean! Boiling with anger, the combined force of Witch Hunters - Dwarves - Reiklanders ( Team 1) started on the south side of the street. As you will probably notice on the pictures below, Tortiou decided to hire the services of a Freelancer Knight to assist his Reiklanders... Here you can see, from top to bottom: Tortiou's Reiklanders, Tom's Witch Hunters, and Lanyssa's Dwarves:To the north, moving silently but consumed with rage, were the mighty Dwarf - Reiklander - Possessed alliance ( Team 2). Matt's Possessed are pushing forward to secure the middle of the street, followed by Erkwin's and Boehm's warriors:Near the fountain, you can spot Matt's mightyPossessed, among them Gnobo (to the left) and Krackatoaaar (to theright) who continued their serendipituous killing spree:"Gentlemen, you can't fight in here, this is the War Room!"A lonely Beastman securing the first wyrdstone counter. Behind him, Boehm's halfling cook takes a firing position:The first two close combats of the game, between aseparated Freelancer (from Tortiou's warband) and Matt's unstoppableKrackatoar; and between Tom's dog and Matt's terrifying Gnobo:To tell the story of Matt's incredible close combat fights during this game would take too long (and he'll probably be glad to write about it himself) (*hint! hint!*) Let's just say that Lady Luck was on Matt's side... and thus, both the Freelancer knight and Tom's dog were killed in this action. After a few turns, the middle of the street is being approached by many warriors: Team 1 is rushing on the footbridges, whereas Team 2 takes cover behind a city wall (Team 2 is hidden in this picture):At the end of the 6th turn, after a big brawl in the middle of the street, Team 2 had the highest number of warriors standing in the Victory Area. Team 1 had been too slow or had had too many warriors killed in the battle. Thus, Team 2 (Matt, Boehm and Erkwin) was declared the winning team! Admin Tom and his boyz, after the fight:
This was the end of the first day of our Big Meetup (11th of July). The next day, another fascinating scenario was played, with an unexpected twist... but this will be told in Chapter 4 - The Last Chapter! _________________

| As you may have noticed, Captain Tortiou's Reiklanders hired a Freelancer Knight to assist them in battle. This is an excerpt of the journal of this hired sword, called Don Salchichón: - Don Salchichón de Castilla y León wrote:
30th of January
My name is Don Salchichón and I come from Castilla y León. And you are about to read the most amazing tale that was ever told: my tale. For I am a brave knight coming from a humble family. And I decided to ride to Mordheim in order to loot pillag stea joder rescue the widows and the orphans. And God may strike me down with thunder if I lie.
31st of January
Today, I met with an interesting captain in one of the many bodegas in town. We drank six three just one pint of cerveza (I am a pious man) and he told me that his mercenary warband was in need of assistance. At first I was puzzled when I saw how he cuddled the little turtle on his shoulder, giving it some salad to eat or some beer to sip from time to time... but then it amused me and I decided to join them for 50gc for 10gc for free because my holy goal is to protect the widows and the orphans.
32nd of January 1st of February
Today was the day of the epic battle. Me and my brave horse, Llevamierda, were positioned in front of the Reiklander warriors:
Captain Tortiou told me I was to advance as far as possible in the broad street and I had to "secure the perimeter". He then consulted his allies, some Witch Hunters and Dwarves, on the strategy to adopt. I wondered if these allies were also here to rescue the widows and the orphans (like me)... but I had to trust them. Ojala que no me engañen!
Llevamierda rode swiftly through the ruined buildings, followed by some dogs from the Witch Hunters:
But suddenly I was attacked from all sides! Horrible creatures surrounded me in a dark corner of a building. I was afraid I wanted to flee I took my sword and bravely fought back:
But alas! My sword, the famous Cortacol (forged in Toledo) couldn't hurt these beasts. And the reinforcements from Captain Tortiou's men and from the dwarves arrived to late. I fell from Llevamierda's saddle and rolled on the cobblestones, and I survived only by death-faking.
Today, the widows and the orphans were not protected. But I swear to Dios and to mighty Castilla y León: tomorrow, I will show these hijos de pu** cabron** asshol** these unholy and bad men what I'm capable of!
Y que me matan ahora mismo si no lo consiguo! | |

| sorry for double post - Quote :
- 'King Leonardo, I, sergeant Behomond Leopold and my Questing knights, the Red order intercepted this letter right before Dwarven
borders. it was transported by a group of deamons, we ambushed them and took the letter, since it looks serious to me my king, I'm asking you to read
the letter. I already let a priest bless it, but it costed the poor guy his life, so you might want to show it to the high priest. I wouldn't like to waste
more of your time, so here's the letter. at your service, the Red Order at the Dwarven borderlands
- Spoiler:
Great unholyness, We've been in Mordheim for one day now and fought two fights already. We're with a lot less men then what I've seen walking around in this place, Though I'm pretty sure we are the toughest around here. I've got shot twice in the chest in the first fight. I'm still trying to get them out, but i can still fight. luckly I have casted a spell on Gnobo, what made him feel invulnerable for a while, guess it saved him from a nasty dead, since he fought some
holy wardogs.I can be very proud at Krackatoaaar, it's the young possessed you've sended with me. in the first fight he was able to do some
nasty damage to some Dwarves, what made them retreat, cowardly bastards. I've met some leaders of other warbands, and i've found out that
most of them are just greedy bastards, not giving about their gods or relegions, just about their wealth. I teamed up with some, so that my guys
won't take damage. I hope you'll forgive me, but I promise you I'll stab my cursed knife deep into their spines. with the wyrdstone and wealth we
found in the first fight, I was able to hire a beastmen which I found in a cage that the dwarves left while retreating. He didn't do much, since he
just got shot twice in his chest, rolling of a stairs, and after that an arrow penetrated his braines. Also Gnobo and I would like to thank you for
sacrificing for us, since Gnobo's skin turned harder then most metals. Again I casted my spell on Gnobo, and I made my boys go into the middle
of the fight. it seemed that they gave away a bounty for killing us. Krackatoaaar was able to bring down a knight mounted on a horse, but that
was right before all my guys got flattend by a horde of Dwarves, Reiklanders and nasty Witch Hunters. I wanted to take a run for it, but I knew the gods were on my side, so I keeped firing my arrows in their lines. finally I got the arrows out of my chest, so my blood is slowly drying again. what automaticly means that i can't write for much longer. The witch hunters just sended me a letter, so I'll check that out, it might be a trap. I'll write you a letter soon, since I feel there's a battle comming
up.
I'll sacrifice something for you, Khan Zrani....

| AMAZING, INCREDIBLE, thats the very first time I've ever seen "serendipituous" actually used in a sentence [in the 60s there was a folk music group called the Serendipity Singers, that was as close as it got ]. Once again, I am in awe of all the GREAT scenery, & minis. The Battle Reports are tremenously entertaining. The photos are terrific. AND a FINE LOOKING GROUP OF GAMERS [although you appear to be in different scales ]. I am SO jealous! | |
