| Joined the army about six years ago and foolishly traded away my mordheim models before shipping off. Now that I'm out of the barracks I would like to get back into the game again, but it appears that most of the models I am after are a bit of pain to get a hold of. Trying to see if anybody has full sets of human warbands they would like to part with for $$$. I know many are available individually on ebay and some on the GW website, but perhaps someone has a full set they would part with?
In the market for
Middenheim Captain w/ Sword and Buckler *purchased
Middenheim Captain w/ two weapons *purchased
Middenheim Champion w/ Halberd *purchased
Middenheim Champion w/2hd Hammer *purchased
Both Middenheim Youngbloods *purchased
Reiklander Captain Fat Reiklander Captain w/Sword and Pistol Reiklander Champion with 2hd Sword

Reiklander Youngbloods *purchased
Marienburger Captain with Sword and Buckler Marienburger Captain w/ 2 pistols
Marienburger Champion with two swords *purchased
Both Marienburger Youngbloods *purchased
The complete set of Averlanders (rare it seems) *purchased
The complete set of Ostlanders (also rare) *purchased

If you are in the market to part with any of these then please let me know. As I said I only have cash to offer as I have currently have a non-exsistant collection. Thanks for your time

| My address is for the States (WA) As for the Averlanders and Ostlanders, they are a mixed blessing. I found auctions on Ebay from a seller that had a HUGE treasure trove of old GW products. All items were metal and he had a huge selection of old models from Man-o-War, Necromunda, 40k, Fantasy, and Mordheim. For mordheim he was selling Ostalnders, Averlanders, Shadow Warriors, and the casualties. I was outbid on both the Ostlanders and the Averlanders, but low and behold I received an email giving me a second offer for both. I took the offer, but something in the back of my mind just screamed "to good to be true." I checked the auctions I had lost, and I was not the second highest bidder at all! I could possibly see how someone would have a second warband that he wanted to sell, but to say that he had enough for the top five bidders? I checked through the sellers ebay reviews, and out of the 1300 positive results, he had 16 that all accused him of selling counterfeit GW products. Honestly it would make sense why the guy would be able to have so much classic GW products. I am sure the quality will be fine, since making copies of metal models is relatively easy to do, but I do feel kind of ripped off in a way since I am not getting legit product. Still, how hard is it to find those two warbands? Obviously I lucked out in seeing the auctions, but in the end I'm just helping a guy who is selling illegal items. | |

Could you post some pictures when you receive them... i wonder how copied models look like. Hope you didn't payed to much for them if they are copied....

| If you are sure those are counterfeit models you can send them to GW headquarters, they will prosecute the counterfeiter (which may help you with your bad feelings) and they will supply you with the genuine models (If they can - and seeing these are OOP models, I don't have high hopes you'll get them) In the end it's up to you if you want to keep your fakes. But you can still tip GW about the guy and feel good about yourself you can find all info on page 3 of GW's legal site.
and i'm also interested in seeing the quality of the fakes. You gotta let us know if you can see the difference

| I will be glad to post pictures, unfortunately though I am currently deployed so it will be a few months before I can post pictures. Once I am back though I will certainly get some hi-res shots of them and let you all know. Thanks for the info about the GW website. I've collected all the sellers info so far, so once I get back I will pass the information along to GW | |

| That really sucks, too bad. I too would really like to see pictures of counterfeit GW models. Yes, the Averlanders and Ostlanders are extremely hard to come by. I rather doubt I could spot the difference between counterfeit models and genuine ones. | |

The usual giveaway is 2 mold lines. The one that is from the original cast, plus the new one from duplicating. It is quite hard to match a new 2-part mold to the original mold line.

| Lowenbraugh; the sellers name wasn't "cyberspawn" was it ? His auctions finished on the 29th May and he had some very, very nice stuff. I just checked his feedback and he appears to have two people saying he's selling fakes / re-casts If it is the same guy you're talking about then i won the dark elves and all the casualties .... saw the Ostanders and Averlanders but the price tag put me off. Yet to receive the miniatures and he should be posting them this week with any luck. - Kafka

- Kafka Yes, Cyberspawn was the name. He had an awesome selection indeed. The price of the Ostlanders/Averlanders was very high, but I received a second chance offer at half the price of the winning bid. Very odd indeed. Since you will get to check out your elves before I can see mine, please check to see the quality of them. I would be interested to see your take on the quality.

Very odd indeed. It's possible the people who put the higher bids pulled out of the auction because they couldn't cover the costs ... odd and a long shot but stranger things have happened. I wish i had put a bid on - maybe i would have received the same offer as yourself and would have some proof he's selling multiple copied sets to all bidders on a particular auction. - Quote :

| It is possible that maybe one person could have pulled out, but when there are five higher bids, then there is something weird going on. I actually almost bid on the elves as well, since I know that they are hard to find. Perhaps I should have since I could have gotten a second offer as well. | |

| Honestly, if I had the chance to pull the trigger on some counterfeit kislevites, I'd have to think long and hard about whether or not to turn the offer down. Thinking about it right now, I'd probably turn the offer down, and then cry in my beer for a week. | |

| Painted is not a problem, unless it's a good paint job that would up the value of the mini. I hate to strip mini's that have a good paint job and if it's a good one you would be better off selling them on ebay to make a good price. | |

| Lowenbraugh, Figures arrived today and for the most part they appear to be original casts There's a few with double cast lines - notably the Blood Bowl trophy i won and the bore casualty figure. Other than that they seem fine. The trophy is an old figure which was re-released by GW and i have noticed that GW have made newer molds of old figures. It appears they are not bothering with the original casting lines when re-creating and the "newly available" old stuff has double cast lines. I bought a chaos door from GW mail order a few weeks ago and notcied the lines immediately - i have an original i bought from ebay about 8 years ago. I'll post up a comparrison pic when i find my camera - Kafka | |
