So, the thing is, that in our gaming groups, we've agreed, that some units can be seen over others. We just found it weird, not being able to see the big Orc towering above a couple of Skinks.

This however, might be seen as a bit... Unfair. Especially for those who can't see over their own units.

So, I heard about someone who just in general houseruled that your own models do not block line of sight. Anyone with experience in those rules?

I just find it weird, at least in close combat, that you can't see who your friend is fighting with.

Personally I find it quite evocative- a bit like a tense scene in a horror movie.

I prefer friendly characters blocking line of sight, so that it makes situations more realistic, like the person in front charging in whilst the person behind is left wondering what they've seen / what's making all the noise. When they can see, they can move to do something about it, until then their friend might simply be a bit mad (which, given this is Mordheim, is not that unlikely :p)

I can see why Skinks, Goblins, Halflings and Wardogs might not block line of sight, since they are smaller than most other things; I was going to mention Squigs, but since they bounce they should block more sight than normal, and Direwolves are just that much larger that they definitely should.

At the end of the day if you want to house-rule it that you can see through friendly models, you should, but I like the fact it adds more tactical movement, and more cinematic touches to it when you can't.

Just buy a laser pointer. If small creature can't see through larger one they just can't. It's simple. They are supposed to be small, they can hide better but don't have line of sight of larger ones. There is nothing to fix.
How can skinks block line of sight to the orc btw?Question

It does indeed give more tactical material, but since we've already implemented this more realistic approach, I don't see why we shouldn't go all the way. Atm., I feel as though it's a bit too easy for me, since I'm benefiting a lot from this 'my Saurus can see over my Skinks'.

Skinks block sight just as any other creature would, according to official rules. If the base blocks, the enemy can't be seen, unless it's a large target. So two Skinks on one Orc, would usually block LoS to him.

We play that if a friendly model is obstructing LOS that if you miss the target by 1 you hit your own figure. if the base of the figure blocks the path of a warrior then you can't just move through your own warriors you need to be more strategic at placing your warriors

Phantasmal, I'm sorry, but I think you might've misread what this is about :-P

It's about being able to see models over other models.

But the solution is found for my group, so no worries! Wink
