what are the tactics for each of these two lists?

its usually worth it to get a second weapon. are you only going to be playing together? if so that would certainly make things simpler, with any warband thats almost exclusively close combat oriented, you want to charge first. With my list you would put your henchmen and initates in front in case you get charged first and then counter with your harder hitting veterans.

With your list I guess I would try to force combat into a smaller space so you cant be over run by better numbers and put your ogre and pit veteran in a position to go after their best units

Axes are not very good at all. because armor is so rarely effective few people use it, especially early in a campaign. maces and hammers are the same thing in the rules.

Hi folk, new Marauders of Chaos Warband (Kurgan), we are using the +1 AS house rule and so shields are (IMO) a must.
Chieftain - Sword, Shield, Heavy Armour, Helmet = 170 g
Blood Father - Sword, Light armour, Shield = 80g
Possesed = 55g
Champion - Steel Whip, Light armour, Shield = 85g
Champion - Sword, Light armour, Shield = 80g
2 x Warhounds of Chaos = 30g

Whadda ya think folk ?

Definately.

The earlier you hire the warriors the earlier they start earning XP. Especially in the case of henchmen who only earn per participated game you can't really afford to hire them later on. Proper henchmen are surely much more worth than armour - in the beginning.

Hey people,
I'm starting a Wood Elves warband following this list: https://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/rules-and-gameplay-f1/athel-loren-yet-another-wood-elf-warband-set-t1704-25.htm?highlight=wood+elves

This is the result:
1 Warden (75gc) + eternal guard kindred (15) + bow(free) + two headed spear (20) = 110
1 Spellsinger (45) + sword(10) = 55
1 glade champ (40) + wardancer kindred (15) + sword (10) + staff (5) = 70
1 glade champ (40) + waywatcher kindred (25) + longbow (15) + staff (5) = 85
3 elven trainees (30) + spears (10) = 40 x 3 = 120
3 wolves (20) = 60

That is 10 out of 12 guys

I would like to have some feedback on it.
Thanks in advance

For a bit of Hilarity I started a ranged ogre warband

Ogre Chieftan 145
Mortar 70
Axe 5
Axe 5

Youngin 45
Mortar 70
Axe 5

Youngin 45

Halfling Scout 15

Total: 494

The first few matches went with me having the halfling on standby ready to be sacrifice. Five matches and no balistic upgrades later the warband is doing well.

Witch Hunter List

Witch Hunter Captain - 100gc
Crossbow(25)
Sword(10)
Axe(5)

Witch Hunter - 65gc
Crossbow(25)
Sword(10)
Axe(5)

Witch Hunter - 65gc

Sword(10)
Axe(5)

Warrior Priest - 46gc
Hammer(3)
Hammer(3)

4 Flagellants - 220gc
4 Flails(60)

Total:496

Any feed back would be appreciated! I am going up against Undead, Shadow Warriors, Skaven, Ostlander, and Reiklander warbands. The Reiklander warband is HEAVY in the ranged department. I know the Ostlander player ended up taking a Ogre. Finally the undead player stated his undead warband had 10+ zombies or something.

Edit: Thanks for the advice Kurgan. That makes much more sense.

Judo: I would cut down on the armour, shields and helmets to make room for another Witch Hunter! Cutting down on Heroes in a warband cuts down your potential income. If you have the income you can always buy armour later (though because of critical hits armour is pretty useless most of the time anyway!)

ITCHY GANG - Skaven Warband

Whiskers (Assassin Adept) w/ 2xDagger, Sling

Eek (Eshin Sorcerer - Eye of the Warp) w/ Dagger

Hack (Black Skaven) w/ 2xDagger

Slash (Black Skaven) w/ 2xDagger

Ping (Night Runner) w/ Dagger & Sling

Pong (Night Runner) w/ Dagger & Sling

Bud (Rat Ogre)

Kit's Scavengers (Verminkin x 1) w/ Dagger & Club

Puzzle (Warlock HS - Silver Arrows & Sword of Rezhebel) w/ Staff

TOTAL - 500
RATING - 115

I have not posted individual totals, obviously, but the total is exactly 500. This was considered the "weak list" of my gaming group by some of the players. However, the speed at start and bad decisions by my first-round opponent launched this warband to a 211 Rating after ONE game. Because we have decided beforehand to use the voluntary rout special rule, a couple of the more squeamish players have expressed interest in playing me next as a launch in xp (given the handicap.)

My Mordheim diary will be posted in another thread when I get around to taking some more snapshots of the new state of the warband. The group is concentrating on building terrain at the moment so only one dice-rolling session has been played in the last couple months. The table is really shaping up, though. You can always see the latest status of our table at the link below.

Hi y'all! I have not played Mordheim, but I have played a lot of warhammer fantasy, so that is the basis of my choices. I have read the rules somewhat but feel that this is probably not as good as it could be. Some help would be very much appreciated.
We plan to use some of the fixed armor and dual wielding rules that are described in the top of that thread on this forum.

Note: my future playing gang has said that it is okay that I venture over with one point here, as long as they may do so too.

Eisenblume,

I'm glad you went the fluffy route by tooling-up your heroes, but you're spending on armour what might be better used on more bodies (especially another hero).

I'd downgrade the armour on the captain and priest to light (you can give those suits to other members when you can afford heavy armour later) and take it away from the Witch hunters who should really be ducking in cover and raining blessed bolts down on the heretics anyway. Doing that saves you 100 gc. That's a lot of cash. The first thing to get with that dough is another witch hunter so that you maximize your income. After that, pick up a few more henchmen and you're set.

So here are two starting warband rosters, one for Stirlanders and one for Possessed. Ill Post up the Middenheimers roster im currently writing up after ive recieved some feedback from these. Im basically writing up the warband rosters (including a bit of back story) before i start on the new project. It would be cool to find out what people think as im only going to be making one of these warbands (for now anyway). The stirlanders is really an update of my old roster, but better.

Max Von Stirs' Free Brigade (used as
Reiklanders)

Maximilian Von Stir was a sergeant in
the 2nd Stirland Halberd Regiment and a veteran of many
battles against the foul undead. Upon Hearing of the destruction of
Mordheim and the riches to be found there, Max and his right hand man
Karl (the regimental standard bearer) Deserted from the State army
and set off for Ostermark. On their way they encountered a Fellow
Stirlander Ernst Krieger, a slightly unhinged mercenary who agreed to
come along on their adventure to the city of the damned. On the night
the pair deserted the regimental banner of the 2nd
Halberiers was reported missing. It is said that the pair sold it to
pay the small band of Hunters and Villagers who they have gathered to join them, others say that Karl still carries it, hidden in his
pack, so that when the men return to stirland with their riches, the
banner of the 2nd Halberdiers will fly to herald the
return of the Free Brigade.

Cult of The Seer (Cult of the
Possessed)

Nothing is known of the Seers past
before the comet struck mordheim other than that the blast rendered
him unconscious for several weeks. When he awoke all that remained of
his former life was a crater with a large glowing green rock in the
centre. On this rock there was placed a great helmet. As he stumbled
towards the rock he could feel the great power that it held. As he
moved closer a two headed dog ran from the ruins towards to rock but
was instantly vaporised yet He was unaffected. He lifted the helmet
from the rock, curious as to its origin. In an act of impulse he
donned the helmet and in that moment all was revealed to him. The view
through the visor was not of the present reality but every reality that
ever existed. The Seer no longer existed simply in our world, but in
every world. From that day on the great power that infused him led
him to amass a following of men and beasts that would bring the
revelations of the seer to the whole city of Mordheim.

It's certainly workable (depending on the competitiveness/playstyle of your opponents) - most folks tend to spam crossbows on their witch hunters (and captains) and take nothing but flagellants with a warhound or two - it's nice to see a list that is a little different. I would consider taking one more crossbow (at least) just for the missile support - they come in handy when you go up against really scary things that you can't beat in combat.

While it is legal for your Seer to be equipped with a helm, remember that it will prevent him from casting until he gets Armoured Wizard.

Please tell me what ya think, and how you think it would do in a campaign. Later this week I'll post what the warband looks like now... if it made it through the last campaign >.<

Lt86. The warband looks descent as it stands though you may want to pick up the second troll slayer hero by budgeting some of the other equipment.
Drop the hand-gun on the engineer and trade it for a crossbow to increase effectiveness and decrease cost.
You could also drop the helmets, despite how nicely they do on dwarves to save some more money.

While on the field the troll slayer wouldn't be much more effective than a clansmen, off the field he adds a D6 to the exploration. It's recommended to taking all of the available starting heroes to maximize income.

As toemasss has said, and it can never be stressed enough... never may a warband without your maximum complement of starting heroes, especially with warbands which only start with 4 max.
