I've just started a Carnival of chaos warband and it struck me, why does a bow cost the same as an longbow??? Has it been edited in a newer version that I don't have or...???

I'm afraid that that is correct and can't find any errata that says otherwise.

If there is no errata then it must be correct. Sometimes that is done as an odd way to keep aspects of a warband balanced (e.g. light armour costs 50 gc in a lizardmen warband).
