| good crap, seeing this makes me want to start my board all over again! you've got great versatility in your buildings, and I'd love to see the end results, even though the WIP's are already fantastic to admire!
I bow to you good sir. | |

| Thanks Ezekiel - being a Dutchman you might be amused/interested to discover that my canal is heavily inspired by the canals in the centre of Utrecht. I stumbled upon them* whilst visiting friends there around the same time I was thinking of creating a Mordheim board.
* in fact I nearly stumbled into them whilst trying to avoid all the bicycles! | |

| ah yes, that's a lovely canal indeed! My living on a canal in Amsterdam made me go for that style, but I think I might alter them a bit to incorporate some of the utrecht vibe - and there can not be any harm in stumbling into the canals :p they appear so clean! | |

| Thanks DeafNala. Rather than the polystyrol from Antenociti's workshop, this time I used the base packaging from the pizza's I get from my local supermarket. It turns out to be basically the same stuff and since I'm partial to the occasional pizza it's a more cost effective way to buy (cost is probably about the same but I also get a pizza - and if I'm having one anyway....) | |

| Any chance of seeing the proposed layouts for the other boards. Really itching for more inspiration for my boards for IHMN/Malifaux. Did use Depron cut to fit cork tiles and engraved but they were flat, not multileveled like this. | |

| What mm thickness is your pink foam? I can see the blue is 5mm from the box behind your table. Also are you using a ballpoint to 'carve' your brickwork? Truly stunning terrain and amazingly dynamic. Oh first post btw so...hi | |

| Hi darkmaterials - welcome to the forum. I use three types of foam - normal expanded polystyrene 25mm thick for the sub structure, the 5mm blue foam and white Polystyrol in 5mm and 3mm. The polystyrol is used for the curve under bridges and arches and any curved stonework, plus the camber on my roads. The blue foam is used for pretty much any other stonework - with the exception of fine brickwork for which I use an embossed wallpaper. Yes, I do use a ballpoint pen to impress a stonework pattern - I use a black pen as I've found that the ink can bleed through the paint - it's easier to deal with if its black. | |

| Thanks for the reply cap, sorry to throw more questions but...you mentioned the tray on pizza's, which material does it replace? (a big fan of pizza also!) I noticed early in your thread that you had a large box which I assumed was where you got your blue foam...If my amateur Columbo is correct, where did you purchase it and how much did you pay? I'm sorry if it's a bit intrusive but I love what your doing and I figured to get anywhere near your results I should be using the same gear. Cheers dm | |

| The blue stuff comes from here http://shop.panelsystems.co.uk/craftfoam/modelling-foam/craft-foam-blue.html - be warned carriage costs are high. You can buy smaller quantities from such suppliers as Antenocitis workshop which is where I got the white polystyrol. Polystyrol is flexible and can be formed into curves unlike the blue foam which is too brittle. I've been using the pizza backing tray instead of the polystyrol - but there's no reason it cant be used in a similar capacity to the blue stuff | |
