"Sweet dreams" are made of this...

Well, some of Malifaux's minis, Nightmare on Elm Street and an old Fighting Fantasy book called Phantoms of Fear (where the hero operates in reality as well as in his dreams), have been giving me some inspiration for collecting models that could be used for games that happen in the player's subconscious.

OK, maybe it's a bit weird, to say the least, but it could be fun - especially to have a break from more "serious" games and campaigns.

So far, the miniatures that have caught my attention are these:

They're modern characters, but other more medieval or even fantasy miniatures could be used for the purpose.

Yeah, spot on! I knew about Bushido, but I had never seen those before! They look really good! The Fiendish Fabrications' ones also look "weird" enough for the purpose. Basically, I'm looking for something that can inhabit the subconscious of the characters.

Now that I think of it, any scary-looking miniature will do the trick.

OH COOL...I'm being drawn, kicking & screaming, into Gothic Horror myself as you may have guessed from my Spooky Woods Project. One of the wonderful things about Mordheim is its adaptability to a variety of different settings & periods.
For some very nice, affordable minis West Wind's Gothic Horror lines has a lot to offer. These are a pack that are on my must-have list:

While West Wind's mini are not as highly detailed as some of their more expensive rivals, they have a lot of conversion possibilities, are much more attractive than some of the photos suggest, & have an undeniable charm all their own. I've picked up quite a few of their pieces & am planning on getting quite a few more.

Excellent stuff! I knew Black Scorpion from their pirates, but they seem to have loads of other interesting minis.

As for West Wind, I love their horror themes (and they seem to have lots of them). And the prices are very accessible too.

I still haven't made a thorough research on how to pull this one out, but the idea is pretty much having the characters having crucial actions in an oneiric realm - a bit like Nightmare on Elm Street.

I think it's a pretty cool premise! Survival-Horror meets 80's slasher flicks meets Mordheim... Keep us posted on this.
