Can anyone explain this auction final to me?

Is there something about this figure I am not getting? It appears to me to be the same figure you can buy online for $20.00 USD with the Mounted figure as well.

I looked at the GW - Specialist section and while I see other Marienburger Captains they are not that model? Perhaps it is no longer offered?

It says it is the "direct only" model in the describtion. And it has a pistol and club instead of sword and shield. So it looks like there was a special release of this model with different weapon options. Never heard of it though. Don't know how many of those were sold, but obviously little enough to justivy this collector's-price to some.

i just perchased this model last week from GW and it comes with a spures with all the additional weapons that shown on that ebay listing. yes it is that model its nothing speical about it just change of weapons

It's one ugly model regardless of which of those poorly sculpted weapon options you give it... I'm convinced that GW released stuff like this to try to kill off Mordheim completely.

I had the same question when I saw that final price. The thing that makes it especially strange in my mind is that in order to get that final price you had to have not one but two different people willing to go that high. I find it suspicious that the runner-up's bid activity is 100% with that one seller: she or he has only bid on three items, and all of them from this seller. That seems very suspicious to me. I can't help but think the auctioneer is bidding on her or his own items to drive up the cost. But the other person also has 33% activity with this one seller. It all seems very strange.

Maybe someone really did think that this figure was somehow unique because it isn't the same configuration you see on the GW site. And I guess it is direct-only, since you have to order Mordheim online. Still, it definitely feels a little fishy.

i use ebay a lot and i find it strange that some people will bid for gw stuff over the asking price on gw's site. is this just a way of getting the model without giving gw the business?
or maybe a way to get a reserve price without giving ebay the fee upfront?
either way, its an ugly way to do business, and an even uglier model...
