| Heh, thanks for all the great comments and support you guys ('specially you, Deaf). It's brilliant to know that Luncheim is being enjoyed by other people too. It really is a fun campaign to play in. :cherry: | |

| Thanks, Ashton. Perhaps we'll correlate all of this stuff into a nice safe place on the internet when we're done. | |

, Erkwin! I DO read them ALL DAY! AND FOREVER would suffice for the duration of the games, or at least until my heart stops beating . One thing I would LOVE to see with all the great photos is a Flame On group shot of you guys with who's who identification; it would enhance the story for moi. AND where's that good looking kid for your Avatar, eh Erkwin?!

| This is from our Mordheim day in April (with Special Guest!) (^ click for a bigger image) Left to right: Tom, Joe, Tim (aka Frog), (then two guys Phil will have to name for me), Tom (aka Admin Tom), Phil (aka Zelophahad), Lee (aka Blessed Knight) and Saul (aka WarbossKurgan). Andrew (aka Sizzling Gromril), Richard (the Tomb Kings player) and Chris (aka...um... chris) weren't able to be there that day. I'll try and get phone of them when they aren't looking! | |

| The two guys are Tubbs and Dan who were just spectating (I'm working on them ). As for carrying things on... I suspect the game Saul/Kurgan and I have planned for Friday may be one of the last of the current campaign, mainly because we feel the story is approaching a natural break. We'll then return to scenery-building for a few weeks (we still have loads of unfinshied projects! ) before 'Sartosa IV'. Saul has been running some awesome WHFB campaigns over the last few years all based on the pirate island of Sartosa (highlights for me have to be the ship battles - click here if you want to know why!). That of course is where this 'Mordheim' campaign has been set - in Vercuso. This time, while various guys in Manchester (including us, of course) are battling it out a la grande all across Sartosa, the city of a Vercuso is going to be a Mordhiem-only sub-campaign within the WHFB campaign. I'm not exactly sure when Sartosa IV will be starting, but Luncheim will be restarting at the same time, and hopefully with more warbands... | |

| Thanks for the Group Shot. It's kind of like the Authors photo thing at the back of hard cover novels. Considering it's posted at the end of the campaign [sure, hurt an old man! ], it's very appropriate. AND a FINE looking group of Gamers you are! [Andrew looks just how I pictured him .] BTW I look EXACTLY like my Avatar, except my feet aren't glued to the base. @zelophahad: thanks for the link. Le Sanglier is BEAUTIFUL & HUMONGOUS, AND I LOVE Moby Git! | |

| Sunken Treasure"Boss! Boss! There's an unnaturally low tide today and all kinds of flotsam and jetsam can be seen in the harbour!" squeaked Dirty Morrgun, out of breath from the run and in a state of high agitation. "Warbands from all over town are going to fish for Bloodfane stone in the shallows!" the Goblin continued after a few seconds to catch his breath. "Whassat?" said Kommodore Deffgit, cupping a hand to his ear. Barnacle Nog and Salty Ogbad had already started rousing the ship's company though and by the time Morrgun had repeated his report a third time and Deffgit had started shouting orders to head down the hill the Orc Pirates were all ship-shape and ready to go. ~ ~ ~ By the time the Ogresuns reached the fountain on the edge of the docks there were already three other groups gathering there. Shouts in a high clear Bretonnian accent off to starboard gave away the presence of the Outlaws of Chalons. Beyond them, at the far end of Cannon Street, dark shadows flitted between the eves of the overhanging buildings; Dark Elven Corsairs no doubt. Far to port a strange group shambled through the walled garden of the Wizard's Tower; Undead from the far south, glittering with golden ornaments that caught the Orc Pirate's greedy eyes. Arrows soon zipped up and down Cannon Street as the Dark Elves and the Outlaws opened fire on one-another. The Orcs shouted coarse insults with delight as the experience and skill of the Bretonnians soon started to pay off and the Corsairs dropped like flies, but their merriment was short lived; As soon as the Dark Elves fled the men of Chalons turned their attentions on the Pirates! Salty Ogbad and a small party raced down to the waterfront and splashed into the filthy shallows while the Kommodore, Barnacle Nog and the rest of the Ogresuns charged into the hail of Outlaw arrows. RogUrtz and Plank split off towards the arches, leaving Salty and Stormy Trug to search the waters. With a start, Trug spotted a dark shape beneath the green waters - a slowly moving shadow. He was about to ask Salty what he thought it could be when four glistening grey tentacles broke the surface and it accelerated towards him. "Slippery Jack!" cried Trug in terror as he ran towards the jetty, desperate to escape the horrible fate he was already picturing. The splashes of his panicked feet only served to attract the ever-hungry beast. Grimly Ogbad kept searching beneath the water, vainly hoping to find something to make this sorry debacle worthwhile, as Trug shrieked in shock and pain. His screams were cut short however but they became a stomach-churning gurgle as the poor kabin grot was dragged into the depths. ~ ~ ~ Fishgutz raced forward ahead of the company and slammed a big meaty green fist into an archer, knocking the young man to the ground with a bloody face. Behind the fallen bowman was Robin Le Capot – leader of the Chalons Outlaws – brandishing a gleaming sword and shouting something "in foreign". Robin leapt at the Pirate with a cry and from the rear of the Orc group Wyrdtoof raised his staff above his head then, swinging it two-handed, he brought it down hard onto the cobbled street: Green sparks leapt out of the copper skull at its top and knocked Robin to the ground. As Robin staggered to his feet Fishgutz charged: the cunning Orc dropped his weight forwards to meet Robin him shoulder-first, dipping below the outlaw's flashing blade and catching the chief low in the stomach. As Robin buckled forwards with the wind knocked out of him Fishgutz straightened and swept Robin's legs upwards, dropping the Outlaw over his shoulder. Le Capot landed heavily on his head and was momentarily stunned by the unorthodox, and somewhat dirty, manoeuvre. Before he could react Fishgutz fell upon him heavily with cutlass and boarding-axe… ~ ~ ~ A renewed torrent of arrows drove the Ogresuns back, many of them fell before they cove get to cover or organise another charge. Salty Ogbad was still thrashing around in the harbour – his search still in vain - when a Chalons arrow hit him in the neck. When a minute or two later Barnacle Nog and the Kommodore both took deep wounds within seconds of each other the Orc Pirates fell back in disarray, dragging the near-senseless Kommodore with blood gushing from under his big hat and down his face. Curses and threats echoed through the ruins as they fled but the Outlaws didn't chase them, they had shifted their attention onto the strange Undead creatures who were by now on the very edge of the quay. ~ ~ ~

| Did Robin Le Capote return from the grave for the BIG FINALE, only to bite the dust again!? ANOTHER GREAT BATTLE REPORT! Are you guys SURE you couldn't extend the the campaign season for just a couple more decades? No, huh? Well, WELL DONE, anyway !

OH JOY & RAPTURE! I was laboring under the misconception [isn't that a prize catagory in the Miss America contest? ] that Sartosa 3 was going to be a WHFB campaign. I'm TRULY delighted to stand corrected on this point. Sorry to hear about Robin's death again!

| Excellent! I can enjoy the Mordheimish goodies here, AND the larger battles on the WONDEROUS FlameOn Forum. GOD, LIFE, AND THE FLAME ON GUYS ARE GOOD! AND I can add my insightful observations at both sites [gotta take the good with the bad]. | |

| First Insightful Observation: Having read through a fair number of Battle Reports, both here & at the Flame On Forum, a couple of you guys, WbK & S.G. spring to mind for some reason or other , fall into the "if it wasn't for Bad Luck, I'd have NO LUCK AT ALL" catagory. I'd suggest you guys have a Dice Burning Party, AND then go out & buy some NEW dice that have not been cursed by The Powers of Darkness. Sacrificing a live chicken, while REALLY gross, is another option . | |

| This was it? This was the key to the fabled Chest of the Dead? It seemed as normal as the cobbles beneath his feet, even a little rusted. Waldorf began to wonder if even the simplest thief could have picked the lock.
“Thiiiis iiis iiit?” he moaned.
That blank face stared at him. There were no features, but it seemed as though the thing were scowling. Impossible, surely.
“Open it!” it snapped in that venomous voice.
“Whurt iis indsiiide”. Damn his swollen tongue. Damn his bent windpipe. Damn that gruesome, lifeless face before him. The creature sped closer, seeming to hover over the ground. It brought that flat visage up close to Kleev's mangled face, filmy flesh quivering slightly.
“Open it!”
Waldorf found his tentacled hand pressing the key into the lock. This new body was immune to wounding, immune to pain, but not, it seemed, immune to fear. His warped body began to tense, lean back, big clawed hand rising slightly, his whole form ready to jump away from whatever was in the box. The key turned and the lid came open with an unimpressive click. A dull thudding sounded from within. His suckered tentacles pushed the box open further, and further, slowly, until it fell back on its hinges.
The box's interior was lined with padded velvet, such as a crown or favoured diamond might be rested on. The greasy, pulsating thing within seemed out of place – a beggar in a palace, a leper upon a throne. Was it a heart?
Thump, thump, thump.
It beat like one, was all bloodied as though freshly removed from a chest.
Thump, thump, thump.
Wait, no. Was that a small arm lolling from its glistening mass, underdeveloped and stubby? And a leg, twitching quickly? Was that an eye embedded in its putty form?
Thump, thump, thump.
Yes, now it was clear. The thing was a foetus, sweating, oozing, throbbing. The faceless daemon, that had led him here, used him as a pawn for its own gains, edged towards the thing. The unformed blob seemed to pulsate quicker, sensing his approach.
Thump, thump, thump.
The daemon reached out to touch it, staggered back, wailing in that poisonous voice. Blood dribbled from its blank face, two streaks leaking from where a man's eyes might have been. Another gout, this time where a mouth should have sat, seeping through the meat like wine through cloth. It sagged over on its gaunt legs and burst apart in a shower of gore, its scream a faint echo on the wind.
The throbbing had stopped now. The glob wallowed in its velvet box, making a low hissing sound, like air through a kettle. Something pushed its way free of its flesh, flailed around for a moment, then fell limp – a bat's wing. Another began to push from its other side, then stopped. It stayed there, hanging slack from its horrid body, half in, half out.
Waldorf Kleev fell to his knees.
“Master” he hissed.
The End....... For Now | |
